🤐 While often impossible to study, we know firms protect their (often, most important) IP using trade secrets. @aldona.bsky.social and I found a way to observe and study them. We find trade secret use & novelty increases following increased legal protection. doi.org/10.1287/mnsc... (open access)

Most drivers of inflation lead to higher prices and eventually wages catch up. But tariff-induced inflation is different: Prices rise, but there's no reason to expect wages to catch up. They hurt your purchasing power in an enduring sense.
