My timeline is full of debates, polls, and even a move to dismantle the DHS. Slowly but steadily, elected and running-for-office Democrats are realizing that centrism and bi-partisanship a la Chuck Schumer aren't the way anymore. Here's hoping they keep it up, post election next month.

In 2011, I presented on students w/ criminal records & campus crime to a conference of university chiefs/LEOs. I made an offhand remark that if universities were actually serious about relationship & sexual violence, they'd ban frats. One said, "We would if we could," & every other chief agreed.

We’ve seen schools do this before. If this one-year party suspension doesn’t turn into a permanent ban, then it’s just a message to fraternities that they have true impunity. That even the worst, most violent behavior will result in a temporary slap on the wrist.

I've been rewatching PENNY DREADFUL, and it's one of those shows I enjoy more and more each time I go through it. It's dense and lush and dark and everything I love all rolled into one. Plus, an absolutely stacked cast. It does such a good job with the question "do you really want to be normal?"

I’ve been in the trail of Emilio Sanchez for 15 years. He was an antislavery spy for the British in NYC in the 1850s, when illegal slave traders were launching ships to the African coast. I’ve almost finished ✍️ his biography for Yale Press. Today I finally located his grave in Cambridge, Mass 🙏

From a former comic-employee's perspective, this is the best speech I've heard from someone at Marvel in a long, long time. Lots of honesty and openness, plus what sounds like a sincere approach to moving Marvel forward. Love the last line: "We’re still not going to use AI to make our comics."

Lorne M. has basically said on-camera, that he was forced to drop Gillis after SG was hired full-time, by higher-ups at NBC. But, because Gillis is the most successful comedian in the US right now $$$-wise (and, I suspect, out of spite), Lorne keeps bringing him back. Most of this is on Lorne.

One of the earliest books I read (and re-read) in elementary school was a YA biography of Babe Ruth. It downplayed Ruth's drinking and womanizing behavior as an adult, but it made him my favorite player, even if he was a flawed man. This is a great story about his upbringing. #baseball 🧵

There really, really, REALLY needs to be an age limit on elected office for all branches of government. No reason anyone over the age of 75 needs to be in office. I don't like/pity Mitch McConnell, but that's straight-up elder abuse. Mandatory retirement for elected officials needs to be a thing

I finally saw SPIDER-MAN BRAND NEW DAY; I think the Holland Spider-Man movies are the best character-based series of movies in not just the MCU, but all of superhero cinema*. They are consistently excellent, fun, compelling, and really well-written. And as always, Florence Pugh rocked. #comicsky
