Matthew Coates @coatesmatthew.bsky.social · 07/10/2026I think I’ve always felt like this for art, but its definitely made me realise I also feel like this about math and it changed my half formed philosophical views on proofs. Oh an AI was so good it solved a millennium prize problem? I genuinely don’t care 072
Matthew Coates @coatesmatthew.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Getting an LLM to reproduce the idiosyncrasies of all possible search committee members to make this accurate would be far more impressive than any millennium prize problem solution 060

Matthew Coates @coatesmatthew.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I know you can (or at least could) do Russian History 1881 -1953 at 6th Form before uni in England, because I did it, and that covered the Russo-Japanese war. But that would require 1. Being English, 2. Taking history A level and 3. At a school that chooses that module, which really narrows it down 230
Matthew Coates @coatesmatthew.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Also lets legislate for Oasis to re-split up at the same time, to really rub salt in the wounds 010
Matthew Coates @coatesmatthew.bsky.social · 29/09/2026My thoughts are that to be anywhere remotely fair, it needs to be all titles stripped, kicked out from the Premier League while the EFL also refuse them entry so they end up at least in the Conference (but preferably lower), and then sued and fined into the ground. Along with transfer bans etc 110
Matthew Coates @coatesmatthew.bsky.social · 29/09/2026It's actually the reason Fernández wanted to join 130
Matthew Coates @coatesmatthew.bsky.social · 29/09/2026I don't know how you make City's punishment big enough that the cheating wouldn't have been worth it. Strip the titles and they could just win more, a single relegation to the championship and even with players leaving they'll be back up and a big team in no time. It needs to be even stronger 140
Matthew Coates @coatesmatthew.bsky.social · 29/09/2026People keep conflating it with strip their titles AND then award them to whoever finished second and then arguing against that instead. But there is nothing saying that you have to then reaward them afterwards. Just remove them and have no winner those seasons 472
Matthew Coates @coatesmatthew.bsky.social · 29/09/2026I don't know why Polanski is so constantly on social media. You could set up a bot that occasionally posts "Why is the Government doing X. There are loads of ways it would be easy to get these kids into this countryside home and the plot run basically as is (with some minor changes). But it seems to make something about the story more empty by doing so. 010
