In-utero exposure to COVID medical-procedure delay orders raised the likelihood of an adverse birth-outcome diagnosis by 13% (from a 6% baseline) and pushed prenatal care toward telehealth. Delaying “non-urgent” pregnancy care has real costs. tinyurl.com/5rtuy5y7

New study with @wrigleyfield.bsky.social & colleagues finds that excess deaths among young U.S. adults have surged since 2011, accelerating during the pandemic and remaining high in 2023. Our research shows that this crisis extends far beyond drug overdoses. 🧵 (1/6) jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...

1/ Sometimes our #policies encode assumptions about people that need not be true. I'm really proud of @mihirkakara.bsky.social led this study on a hard question (conceptually+empirically): Would repealing sub-minimum wage allows adults for #disability improve or worsen #labormarket outcomes?

While a MSA or a Commuting Zone might include a dozen counties, the "SLMs" proposed by our @timbartik.bsky.social tend to be slimmer, containing a few counties or just one. The key is how counties respond to job losses and gains in neighboring counties. 📉📈 www.upjohn.org/research-hig...

Such an important topic that we as pop health researchers must seriously engage with and think critically about. Will use this opportunity to plug some of my own work on perceived racial economic threat and suicide (working paper coming soon). Summary slides here, feedback welcome! shorturl.at/1bNu2
