Our PhD students recently dedicated an evening to community service by volunteering at the Food Bank for Central & Northeast Missouri. The event brought students together for an opportunity to support local families while strengthening connections within the department.

Professor Jeff Milyo will be a visiting scholar at the American Institute for Economic Research in Great Barrington, MA in September 2026. The research fellowship is an opportunity to pursue independent research on economic literacy while engaging with AIER research staff & scholars.

The Social Impact Lab (SIL) recently held its inaugural IDEA Workshop series, a “research speed dating” format to help test early-stage ideas before investing time in them. Across three 90-minute sessions, 21 scholars presented research ideas and received rapid, structured feedback from peers.

Dr. Yajie Wang received the Best Paper Award at the 2026 North America Annual Conference of the Chinese Economists Society, held at Emory University on March 28–29, 2026. The award recognizes an outstanding paper presented by a junior scholar within 5 years of receiving their PhD. Congrats! 🎉
