A few scientific facts. Covid is a multi-system disease with sequelae in all organs. SARS-CoV-2 didn't not disappear; actually a new variant is on the rise in multiple countries (PJ.2.1). It's not endemic. SARS-CoV-2 is airborne, namely it can spread and linger in the air a bit like cigarette smoke.

Vaccines work. It is not hyperbole to say that this particular vaccine — the HPV vaccine — is a medical miracle. It has, in several countries, eliminated cervical cancer among people vaccinated. That is amazing.

Photograph collage.
The leftmost photo is of a small young adult male brown tabby cat sitting and looking up at the camera with large eyes and a slightly cocked head. The expression on the face gives a particularly youthful or posed appearance.
The right-hand photos are taken in succession and display a small beige curly-haired male dog held in the crook of an adult's arms while standing in a fenced lawn. The face of the adult is cropped out of the picture.
The first picture of the dog shows him sitting upright in the arms like a child, looking forward in the direction of the camera. His mouth is open in a relaxed position with a bright pink tongue showing as an expression of contentment.
The second picture of the dog was taken in the same position, but now the dog has moved from looking at the camera to leaning his body and head on the person holding him. The dog's head is resting on the shoulder of the human and the dog is actively licking the human's neck. The pink tongue is visible. A corner of the human's face is visible displaying a smile and dimpled cheek.

three-panel webcomic editing the classic "when life gives you lemons" phrase to highlight the overwhelming nature of chronic illness.

Panel 1:

On the left, a figure cheerfully holds up a glass and begins to say, "OH, WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU Chronic Illnesses JUST..." Next to them stands a second figure struggling to hold a large armful of lemons while standing near a pile of lemons on the far right.

Panel 2:

The first figure looks trailingly at the gigantic, massive mountain of lemons that has now filled the right side of the panel, dropping their glass as they trailingly say, "MAKE..."

Panel 3:

Realizing the impossibility of the situation, the first figure places a supportive hand on the second figure's shoulder and asks, "UM... DO YOU NEED A HAND?"

The second figure, still cradling their load next to the massive pile, replies, "YES PLEASE".

If you wanna learn more about immune amnesia this is a good primer from the American Society for Microbiology. Measles binds to your immune system’s memory cells and infects them, effectively erasing their database. It then produces all new memory cells - that contain info ONLY for measles.

Measles is much more serious than a rash and fever: it also causes immune amnesia and leaves patients especially vulnerable to secondary infection.
