Hundreds of thousands march in French public sector strike against austerity and war
Workers and youth spoke to the WSWS at yesterday’s march in Paris of their growing anger and concern over economic hardship, war, and the fear of far-right dictatorship

I guess what's new about the AI situation is that previously new technologies and conveniences were welcome with open arms and celebrated, with the negatives only appearing a few years down the line. With AI, it's been, 'woah, WTF is this, stop it now' pretty much from the off

I don't know. I got in to climate change not to save the planet but to bring down the liberal capitalist system. Climate change was just the symptom. Now 30 years later it is clear I was right to say is about more than carbon. We now can choose to die from climate, WWIII and/or AI.

What has happened to people? Here in the UK, the government is spending the public's money agitating for a war of choice that will not just cost money but also untold lives. And the people are silent, seemingly happy with the situation (inc. the centre left). I guess the propaganda has improved.

Climate communication is simply the art of convincing people everything is going to be OK - business, the state and the people will unite to manage humanity through to a safe net zero future via a just transition from fossil fuels to electricity.

Under net zero this only gets worse, atmospheric concentrations of CO2 increasing until net zero reached, and then we stay at the edge of the precipice for hundreds of years. That's the best case scenario and assumes we reach net zero and projections of post net zero temps are correct

Psst - hey. Quick heads up, net zero is not an escape from the capitalist nightmare, it actually blocks off our last escape route, namely rebuilding a world that allows us to somehow limit and survive climate change. Net zero is a means to build the saame cage, this time using electricity.

I guess everyone here knows that power and control (I think progressives call it 'governance') is operated through various soft measures - cultural, political and economic. And you can either side with that, work within it (🤑 and ease) or oppose it. The latter (me) = poverty, struggle and anxiety.
