Followed a hunch to ask Rebel Wolves about the balance between human form and vampire form in The Blood of Dawnwalker, and it turns out it's absolutely intentionally weighted in favour of being a vamp

It was originally much harder to beat the game, apparently. But all the talk and concern around the time system: it undermined the studio's confidence

Everyone's talking about the cuts to the studios and dev, which, yes, absolutely. But the behind the scenes cuts to areas like business planning, forecasting, demand planning... these aren't cuts a serious business makes, imo.

Nighthawks is doing... well! It came close to beating our "First Day Of Launch" record. This is a remarkable achievement when you consider that this is on TOP of the thousands of Kickstarter backers who already own the game. So I think we can safely put this in the "success" column for now! Phew!

The numbers confuse me. 1600 Xbox jobs were cut in July with 1600 more to follow over the course of a year. 268 further job cuts have been made. So we're up to 1868? But Matt Booty says MS is "roughly three-quarters of the way through previously announced restructuring". Does that mean...

Reminded this morning of the time I went to meet presumed cranky Witcher author Andrzej Sapkowski who was promoting a new book at the time. He turned out not to be cranky at all, but full of laughter and cheekiness, despite what this photo suggests! www.eurogamer.net/meeting-andr...

This essay by fighting game dev Patrick Miller starts as a response to drama (don't ask) but then drops truth after truth about escapism, coping mechanisms, and games as a painkiller. "If games serve a load-bearing function in someone's life, it's the life that needs fixing, not the games."

It's interesting seeing the continued pushback to the limited time idea the game has. I understand the concern but it really isn't as stressful or limiting as it seems. But some people don't even want to entertain the idea at all - it's like a hard block. It's a cool feature!

Entry n°290726 Let's get uncompromisingly old school.
A black and white isometric map for an RPG module named "Cult of the Cave Crickets". The upper part shows a dark mountain range with a towering murshroom creature as well as the wilderness and landmarks around it. The lower level shows caves and ancient ruins inhabited by a weird species of humanoid crickets.A black and white isometric map showing the setting of an old school RPG module. There's a village to the left and a dungeon to the right, an ominous wizard with a pointy hat to the top and two adventurer in the bottom right corner; a barbarian warrior holding a luminous pearl and a sorceress.Another black and white isometric map of an old school, somewhat psychedelic dungeon. The place is made of labyrinthine corridors supported by giant statues. There are big tentacles emerging from a central chasm, weird machines, traps and other oddities.A black and white top down map of some dungeon, with stark contrasts and bold shadows. It's built atop a huge rock formation. Several levels can be seen, along with hidden passages and a secret room.

Rewilding isn't a side project of the climate fight. It is the fight. This great man makes the case plainly: "the rewilding of the world will suck enormous amounts of carbon from the air and lock it away in expanding wilderness.” That's not a hope, it's an observed pattern across ecosystems.
