LLMs are tools, not people. This means they are not authors either. They are not the author of your git commits, you are. It’s good to disclose if you used an LLM to make edits, but the commit author field is not the right place. That’s just a weird place to put an ad for the tool.

Doing some light research on how people in the 60s reacted to punch cards getting replaced with teletype/terminals and whaaaaat

And this wasn't purely theoretical. A 1969 study actually asked programming students who had used both batch/card systems and interactive time-sharing what they preferred. Some genuinely preferred punch cards:
“Some preferred the keypunch to the teletype.”
Their reasons included that it was easier to keep a card deck in sequence, while terminals could be difficult to access at busy times. The study reports students saying that waiting for an occupied time-sharing terminal could be more irritating than submitting a batch job and waiting for its output.

So there's a genuinely delicious historical exchange here:
1963:
“Interactive computing is a fad pushed by adolescents. These dreamers think everyone needs a console.”
1963 reply:
“Sorry our new technology makes the Priesthood nervous.”
1965:
“This is hysteria and irrational bandwagon behavior.”
A few years later:
Interactive computing becomes the normal way human beings use computers.

I don't think I've shared, but one of my favourite IDE<->agent integrations lately is Microsoft's DebugMCP. It lets agents set and pause on breakpoints, inspect live values, step in/out, evaluate expressions in scope - essentially use all the goodies you get from a proper debugger autonomously.

This technique can be used to read em & container query units for a particular element, then use them in a child element - I just used it to allow an element to generate negative margins to 'break out' of its container. Claude told me it wasn't possible until I gave it the link 😁

Agree. The code is the true spec. The "spec" is a point-in-time historical arifact. And an LLM can explain code far better than it can create it, especially with complex and interconnected systems. The spec can be autogenerated and easily simplified to a third-grade reading level for the c suite.

I'm reaching speedups of 15x compared to pure JS for some operations. I hear excuses all the time that SIMD isn't worth it, that the conversion roundtrip nullifies the gain, etc. This is pure cope. SIMD reliably gives me a 4x speed boost MINIMUM every time I use it, it's so good
