only 8 of them were needed, and they knew it was extremely unpopular. they sometimes do this coordinated thing where a small number of them do the unpopular thing and take the flak, while the others can tell their voters “I voted against it! I voted my conscience!” but they all got the job done.

he explained it pretty well. He doesn’t think we’re at a crisis point. he thinks they’re just playing politics like normal. CR Bill bad, Shutdown worse. He also made clear that, in his view, it’s not a real Constitutional Crisis unless it comes from the Supreme Court region of Executive Tyranny.

I left Gillibrand a couple of fired up voicemails i slightly regret. But at the same time, i still think its time for leadership to change. I think AOC primary’ing Schumer would be amazing. *And* I think he may have been right. There may a good chance we’ll never know, and that’s a good thing.

i thought *exactly* this too, until i heard his reasons. The gov is not “already shut down”, it’s broken. It’s been hacked apart and is being undone, but we still have the courts and a mass of resistance in the agencies. With a shutdown, it goes full Emergency Powers to the Trump Axis of Nazis.
