Wasn’t prepared to get emotional while I ate my dinner tonight. My copy of The Rebel Loon Archive arrived today and it’s so well made and looks incredible, but I’m going to have to take it all in slowly.

@aurinmpls.bsky.social I know at least part of our ward has not been covered by HourCar, but I would sign up in a second if it was saved and they found a way to expand south. Regardless, this is such a valuable asset for the area, please try to help find the funds to keep them running.

this morning I was walking out the door to bike to work at the same time as my kid is headed to the bus stop... “Have a great day buddy, I love you.” *pause* “Hey siri open the garage”

What a school library in Roseville, MN could do with $10,000: #LocalAngle Also: “Nothing shows more privilege than when people say, Can’t people just buy books?”
"I could completely overhaul my nonfiction section. When I started 10 years ago, a paperback was $4.99 or $5.99, and they are $9.99 or $10.99 now.
Picture book hardcovers used to be $14 or $15, and now they're at least $19 or $20.
My budget has stayed stagnant or gone down, and book prices have only gone up.
We still have Pluto books - Pluto doesn't even exist as a planet anymore! With $10,000, I could buy every brand-new book that year. $10,000 feels like the moon."

My kids got too tired to stick it out (I get it), but after we got back I was just w/ my spouse about TMBG is not a "just play the hits" band and how that sort of show is not going to be for everyone. That's my theory on the extracurriculars, anyway.

How is this the first time I’ve seen They Might Be Giants live? Pretty excited.
An empty stage with musical instruments arrayed across it. Some people in seats.

Wore my Make America Minneapolis hat to meet a friend at Turtle Bread this morning. An older person approached me and asked to buy the hat from me. I got them the website and they later came by our table to say they’d ordered a hat and two shirts to their home in Michigan. #Megasota continues

I was in the clinical trial for Novavax (got the last spot at the clinic somehow) and felt so guilty for (maybe, could’ve been in the control) having received it when nobody else could; I was so reluctant to tell anybody.

Incredible. First Secretary Mullin claimed that DHS had identified 15,903 noncitizens on Nevada’s voter roll. Then DHS officials told a skeptical Nevada, no no no, that’s just people we flagged. Here are the names of 185 people we KNOW aren’t citizens. All 185 were citizens. DHS got 100% wrong.
When the Department of Homeland Security sent Nevada a list of 185 names last month that it claimed identified noncitizens who had been improperly allowed to register to vote, state election officials got to work.
On Tuesday, the state sent a strongly worded rebuke to the federal government: Every single person on the list was a lawful citizen.
"As for the 185 individuals, our records indicate that they were citizens," Greg D. Ott, a deputy attorney general in Nevada, wrote, according to a copy of a letter sent to Department of Homeland Security officials obtained through open records requests.
"You have provided nothing of substance to suggest otherwise."Following the meeting, Ms. Vogt sent a clarifying email to Nevada officials. "I also wanted to be sure I clarified that we did not reduce the 15,903 to 185," she wrote. "We've manually reviewed some of the 15,903 and confirmed 185 are not U.S. Citizens."
Now, Nevada officials are saying even that 185 number is wrong. They also took issue with a letter D.H.S. sent them in early September, in which the agency reiterated its initial claims about nearly 16,000 noncitizens on the rolls and pressured state officials to review each case in a letter to Nevada officials in early September.

Coolest thing just happened at the shop. Guy walked in and wanted to donate a glove. He said the glove belonged to Paul Feiner. Most Minnesotans know Joe Mauer only struck out once in his high school career. Paul Feiner was the pitcher and this is the glove he wore when he did it!

Speeding doesn't actually save you meaningful time. All it really accomplishes is aggressively increasing the chances that you kill yourself or someone else outside your vehicle. It's a mathematically flawed, entirely selfish risk.

The choices we make in life are lessons we are teaching our children. If I pull my kids while leaving our neighborhood kids behind, what am I teaching about individualism vs commitment to a strong community? If I pull them after a difficult strike, what am I teaching about solidarity?
