Data center construction has migrated to places of low resistance: poor, often Black areas where corrupt deals are commonplace and the harms to residents invisible. Lowndes County, Alabama, in the heart of the Black Belt, is one of those places. 🧵 prospect.org/2026/10/01/d...

my death penalty stance from childhood on has always been Fuck No although my reasoning has evolved to this current form: humans are fallible, systems are flawed and so innocent people will be convicted + the state should never do premeditated murder

If we're going to have a death penalty it should be firing squad. 5 bullets to the head do quick work. There's no kind, compassionate way to kill someone. Let people see what it is that they support.

The death penalty is a moral abomination. State-sanctioned barbarism pushed by incompetent morons and sanctioned by the Supreme Court. Absolute ghoul shit. www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...
The lone woman on Tennessee's death row was still alive after she was administered two lethal injections, her lawyer said in a motion seeking to halt her execution Wednesday night, a stunning development after the Supreme Court had stepped in to allow the state to put her to death.
At 8:26 p.m. local time, witnesses said
"executioners had injected both syringes of lethal injection chemicals and Pike is still alive and snoring," her lawyers said in a federal court filing.
They said Pike "has not lost consciousness and still has a heartbeat," and that curtains to the death chamber "have gone down twice."

The library isn't your mommy or daddy. Nobody is forcing you to check out any books. Nobody is forcing you to read any books. If you don't like a book, don't read it. If you don't want your kids reading the book, grow up, be a parent, and choose a different book.

Dolly Parton started the Imagination Library in 1995 for her dad, who never learned to read. Thirty years later, little ones throughout Ypsi get a book in the mail from her every month. What a legend. 💛
Pink graphic reading "Dolly Day 9.25" in large bold letters. Dolly Parton, smiling with big blonde hair and a teal sequined jacket, holds an open book behind a row of colorful children's books. A quote reads: "If I'm remembered 100 years from now, I hope it will not be for looks, but for books." It's followed by Dolly Parton's signature, the years 1946–2026, and the Dolly Parton's Imagination Library logo.

I would die for Jojo the snake.
• December - February: Vet themed play with x-rays and vet checklist (natural science, technology)

Vet play was a hit with our patrons, and we observed many "life-saving" procedures done on our stuffed pets. Our favorite was one child using a blood pressure cuff as a
"CPR mask" so she could bring a fish back to life. Having X-rays out on a small light able also inspired one of our patrons to look for a stuffed snake to match the snake x-ray we had out. We didn't have one; so, when he saw one at a thrift shop, he bought it and brought it to us! Now we have a lovely stuffed snake named Jojo in honor of our very curious snake-loving kid.
