I am, at this point, entirely committed to my bit about bringing up Leigh Brackett at any opportunity, but she really was as good as the best.
As Bryn says, she could write sharp pulp adventure, but also poetic elegy and – when she wanted to – frankly and bleakly. And weave those things together.
