Just like in other countries, the idea is to make sure that if they want to try a second coup attempt, the military, CIA, FBI, Secret Service, etc will support it. Last time (Jan 6), the military/CIA and Secret Service were neutral and the FBI ended up helping to prosecute it.

President Donald Trump suggested that Elon Musk’s government efficiency team has found irregularities in US treasuries, and intimated that may lead the US to disregard some.

Trump didn’t elaborate on what might be disregarded. He made the comments while speaking with reporters Sunday on Air Force One en route to the Super Bowl.

“Maybe we have less debt than we thought,” he said.

If they defy a Federal court order, the US Marshals office in the enforcement branch. They get their orders from the State Department led by Pam Bondi. We already know she will order the US Marshals to stand down if the courts issue an arrest warrant Trump does not approve. This is what a coup is.

The Trump admin will likely defy courts—whether explicitly reject rulings or just proceed in bad faith—but it’s important to go through that step anyway. As with criminal charges for his coup attempt, make them defy the law rather than weakly forfeit it in advance, and try to slow them elsewhere.
