Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

it would shock the average person how many anti-trans activists had a partner or child who came out as trans and, rather than being supportive, they obsessively worked to "purge" transness from their lives (as well as society)...

Every single person who spent more than a few hours in American concentration camps will be owed restitution. I think a concentration camp stay conferring automatic permanent legal status is a good starting point, and the least of what these people deserve.

You don't necessarily need to say "image of" in your alt text for users to know it's an image. Screen readers will announce that it's an image. But it can help readers to specify if it's a hand-drawn image, Polaroid, infographic, screenshot, chart, map, diagram, or so on.

As many people point out in @-replies, it's rather easy to suppress queer health care even with privatized health care - red US states do that already. Weakening the state, through privatization, judicialization, or decentralization, has never protected minorities from a majority dedicated to kill.

part of the reason that social media is such a bad format for social interaction is that at a certain level of popularity and admiration, people stop seeing you as giving advice or venting about your pet peeves and start seeing you as issuing Edicts from God

One of the frustrating things about reporting on trans internal refugees is that the people who you're able to interview tend to be ones who managed to find some level of stability - the people moving from couch to couch to street to couch are harder to reach and more interview-avoidant.

I know it's been said before, but if you're struggling with the *everything*, consider making something. It won't make the everything go away, but you'll feel good about what you made, and that one thing will be far more good than the evil fuckwits have ever produced in their lives.
