"Propagation of the Storegga tsunami in the southeastern North Sea" is published in Quaternary Research Advances today. Open access paper (doi.org/10.1016/j.qs...) examining the degree to which the tsunami from the 8150 BP Storegga slide would have been able to reach the coasts of Denmark+Germany.

Like in a thriller, I found the best site with fallen, crushed stalactites and colums, sealed bedrock #fractures, a few hours before leaving Amorgos…so good I ran out of sampling bags. Did I find the 1956 #earthquake in the geological record? Maybe an older events? Dating will show

sample or not to sample? ... sample! another 2 days on Amorgos, 9 caves, two more to go. So far, no "smoking gun," a few compressed columns, some broken stalactites, and, unfortunately, very few active speleothems. But if it were that easy, someone would have done it already... ehh research💁‍♂️

Me and my 20 co-authors wrote a review paper on the active tectonics of the eastern part of the Alps. We summarise data from many decades of research to see the pattern of active deformation. We discuss if it's controlled by the configuration of slabs at great depth: eos.org/editor-highl...

A new video emerged which seems to show a surface rupture in Yatsushiro, Japan following the M6.8 earthquake in July! Exact location of the video would be 32°30'04.0"N 130°38'29.9"E. Absolutely wild. Only the second ever video of a surface rupture forming after the 2025 Myanmar video! ⚒️🧪 #geology
