In case any one doubts that geomorphology and paleoseismology are unrelated. Trenching the Fuyun fault now.

Ooooh! Pretty great job with this article highlighting some of the major players in California. I find very little fault with it! www.sfchronicle.com/projects/202...

The Papatea Fault, a previously unmapped oblique active fault that ruptured violently during the magnitude 7.8 Kaikōura earthquake in New Zealand on. It produced a vertical surface displacement of up to 9.5 meters #activefaults

Forces of nature. The thread and the needle: The structure symbolizes the act of “sewing together” the crack in the ground created by the paleo-earthquakes exactly above an active fault scarp. Symbol of the people efforts to tame nature and protect themselves from natural events. #wellingtonfault

Vertical surface motions in Europe. I love the Copernicus EGMS! Scandinavia goes up due to postglacial rebound. Po Plain sinks because of sediment input, compaction, and flexure caused by Apennines and Alps. egms.land.copernicus.eu
A map of Europe, colour coded by uplift vs. subsidence. Scandinavia goes up, most of Europe is stable, Po Plain and Netherlands go down

If you're in N. Nevada you probably felt or at least heard about the magnitude 5.7 earthquake on Monday evening. Check out our video summary of the event and aftershocks on our Instagram: tinyurl.com/mrymdky9

Here I wrote about the PATA Days meeting on active tectonics, and about the field trips I led in Guatemala.

The pre-meeting field trip of the 2026 PATA Days starts from Antigua Guatemala with 40+ people from 15 countries. Three days of paleoseismology, archaeoseismology, and active faults ahead of us.

#patadays Day 3. Another spectacular evidence of Motagua fault, in a complex structural bending at La Laguna. Trastensive cinematic, well expressed in a paleoseismological trench.
