Venezuela's Cardon Oil refinery, the country's second largest at 310,000 barrels per day, just unexpectedly exploded and caught fire, forcing a full shutdown. The fire started at a gas line connecting the refinery's diesel hydrotreater and halted the whole plant, including the boilers. #ETTD

Labor sets these payments and they could fix this tomorrow. Lift the pension and income support so people can keep a roof over their heads. Cap rent increases and build public housing now. Secure housing shouldn't be treated as a luxury.

Louise is 71, on the pension, and terrified of her next rent rise. Her story is one I hear from older Queenslanders all the time. If you live alone, the pension doesn't cover living costs. No income support payment does.
