After a lengthy delay it's disappointing (but not surprising) they have decided to publish it during a Dail holiday so it can't be immediately debated. Seems to be a standard response to these types of reports being published. We'll see if any real lessons are to be learned

Great letter in todays @irishtimes.bsky.social from John O Brien on redefining what Success means. Love that reminder of being a positive impact on the people around you. Small acts of kindness and connection are so important.
Redefining success
Sir as I reflect on beginning of a new year, I find myself exploring what the term success really means?
The message that many young people today hear about success is about having a college degree, a high paying job along with fancy materialistic items.
As one becomes older, one realises that success really is peace of mind, loving your work, enjoying your hobbies, staying health and strong, as well as having the freedom to choose. One also realises the importance of focusing on your mental health, along with making a positive impact on those around us. Yours etc John O Brien Clonmel Co Tipperary

Reminded of these lines tonight from Rainer Rilke poem. So many people in pain but please do reach out your hand for support. #MentalHealthMatters "Let everything happen to you: beauty and terror. Just keep going. No feeling is final."
Picture of poem
Go to the limits of your longing by Rainer Maria Rilke
God speaks to each of us as he makes us,

then walks with us silently out of the night.

These are the words we dimly hear:

You, sent out beyond your recall,

go to the limits of your longing.

Embody me.

Flare up like a flame

and make big shadows I can move in.

Let everything happen to you: beauty and terror.

Just keep going. No feeling is final.

Don’t let yourself lose me.

Nearby is the country they call life.

You will know it by its seriousness.

Give me your hand.”

Today’s poem is called ‘Meeting Deadlines’.
Meeting Deadlines

I always meet my deadlines.
I don’t even have to try –
They sneak up on me from nowhere,
Tap my shoulder and say hi.

It’s you! I cry. So how are you?
I did not think you’d come so soon.
Can’t stop now but why don’t we meet
Next Tuesday afternoon?

Or, better still, two weeks from now?
My deadline shrugs and sighs.
A fortnight on, we meet again,
Much to my surprise.
