Building border barriers in Big Bend National Park threatens to destroy the landscape, disrupt wildlife migration, and deplete scarce groundwater. We're working with a broad coalition of environmental, conservation, and civil rights allies to stop it.

After using bikeshare/rental bikes in 2 different European countries (with much better cycling infrastructure) earlier this month, it is nice to come back home and remember how much I love this trusty steed for rides around town.

I briefly considered riding the CityLink Purple home after an evening meeting in Catonsville, but was rudely reminded that bus only runs once every ~45 minutes. When are we going to fund @mta.maryland.gov so it can be a functioning transit agency instead of whatever joke this is.

Check out the Annapolis Blues next summer! They are only USL2 and it’s a bit of a trek from Baltimore, but they’ve built an incredible fan base/atmosphere. I became a season ticket member this year (despite loathing the drive to Annapolis) and it was 100% worth it.

Came inches from getting right hooked by a car while bike commuting on New York Ave NW here this afternoon. Can we please turn this horribly narrow bike lane into a protected bike lane (and connect it to the K St bike lanes)? @cmbrookepinto.bsky.social @janeese4dc.bsky.social @waba.org

Why has there been so much less attention paid to the destruction being caused to border communities and ecosystems by border wall construction under the 2nd Trump admin vs the 1st Trump admin? How do we change that/get the public to care about border communities?

Most prescient, clear/eyed work of writing I’ve read on reorg. Read it. Then act. “Call your senators. Call your representative. Not next week or later. Now. Tell them this is not a reorganization — it’s the destruction of a federal agency by executive fiat and that Congress must intervene.”

When Bad Bunny scaled a utility pole during his Super Bowl show, it was more than a stunt. His performance highlighted Puerto Rico's frequent power cuts, which have been exacerbated by energy privatization. We're fighting for an equitable and just clean energy system for all Puerto Ricans.

Book 1 was The Boys in the Boat, the unsung story of the 1936 US Olympic rowing team. It seamlessly blends a coming of age narrative set in the Depression-era PNW with descriptions of rowing strategy/philosophy and the Nazi’s use of propaganda around the Olympics. Highly recommend!
The book cover of The Boys in the Boat, featuring nine rowers powering a boat through the water.

The big problem with NEPA reform -- which I'd like to see NEPA reformers grapple with a bit more -- is that if you open the thing up, most of the legislators doing the "reforming" are hostile to it & just want to get rid of env. review entirely. It's not a good-faith process.

There is a better way to travel between major US cities. It's not that we can't build high speed rail here... It's been a deliberate choice of political will, car industry lobbying and regulatory hurdles designed to make it seem impossible... But it is indeed a choice. www.cnn.com/interactive/...

What if the United States had high-speed rail?
High-speed rail is a proven alternative to gridlocked highways and overcrowded airports. CNN has reimagined a faster, more connected future for US commuters.

FWIW, my thinking on this was that having both a 5 hour closure in the morning/early afternoon and a 5hr closure overnight would shorten the long construction timeline. But maybe bridge construction is not the limiting factor compared to some of the other parts of the project.

Cameron Walkup @cbwalkup.bsky.social · 21/11/2025
Yeah I get that, but couldn’t they do work on the actual bridge part - i.e. between Long Bridge Park and East Potomac Park - overnight? Sounds like they’re foreclosing that possibility even in the non residential segments of the project.
