I really enjoyed Beastwoven by A.B. Hamilton. #UKYA fantasy debut published by @hachettechildrens.bsky.social on the 8th October that managed to surprise me despite the million YA books I've already read! I have a guest post for you on TeenLibrarian: teenlibrarian.co.uk/2026/10/01/b... #KidLitUK
Beastwoven: The world's unravelling and so are they.

I was sent an early copy of this and gave it to a friend's kid - he took it into school and parents of his classmates have been harassing his mum to ask if he really has it and how he got it 😁

I read this in 2 bus journeys - part 1 filled with dread and part 2 filled with rage. Translated from Irish, Máire Zepf's YA novel in verse is a must-read for Holly Bourne fans! Published by @littleislandbooks.bsky.social next week (thanks for sending me a copy).
He Loves Me (Not). Tagline: He made her feel seen. Then she vanished without a trace. Dark background with daisies

The Lake Pristine books by @ellemcnicoll.bsky.social are all gorgeous teen self discovery with romance on top. Always authentic neurodiverse characters, in 'Yearning Difficulties' Zella hasn't considered that she might be autistic until getting close to openly autistic peers. Tropes are well used!
Cover of Yearning Difficulties shows a closeup of girl's head, wearing earphones, lying in autumnal leaves.

How could I not love Queens of the Crypt by Dom&Ink, when the librarian (and library) is so important to our protagonist, #nonbinary Barnaby. Camp gothic horror with laugh-out-loud scenes as well as classic teen angst #KidLitUK #UKYA #GraphicNovel thanks @hotkeybooks.bsky.social!
Queens of the Crypt cover with quote from Juno Dawson: "a fabulous treat with real heart and characters to die for"Barnaby sitting at a desk with a stack of books looking up at the librarian.
She says: "Barnaby, I know you want to be a librarian one day, but you spend more time here than I do. And I'm paid to be here, hun".
B: "I was, erm, just really enjoying this maths assignment and basking in your librarian-queen glow".
L: "Well, that's a lie. Not the glow part, obviously"There is a crypt that sits in the darkness...
A crypt that exists across multiple realms, that houses your worst fears...
And it's coming to Widow's Creek...
When seventeen-year-old Barnaby Jones comes out to their parents as nonbinary, they expect that to be the toughest part of their day.
But it turns out the toughest part might actually be when their best friend, Fi, is kidnapped by a faceless killer who's been abducting teens all across the small town of Widow's Creek. Or is it when Barnaby unwittingly summons the undead and fabulous Queens of the Crypt through a portal in their bedroom closet?
Either way, the Queens - the Phantom, the Countess, Lady Invisible, the Creature and the Bogeywoman - are here to help. As the horrors creep closer, can Barnaby work together with the scream queens to save Widow's Creek from destruction and unmask the Faceless Frightener?
Hot Key's circle shows it contains camp, horror, found family, and coming out.
