People are too obsessed with Nazi Germany as their fascism template. Well, this is US Federal fascism in 2026. Yesterday's Livestream execution Pay Per View edition is U.S. fascism 2026 style. We're here now. We have to internalize this.

One of the most disconcerting moments of living in this timeline of the world in the U.S. is that A LOT of people in this country keep acting like there's a special line that needs to be crossed for fascism to *arrive.* The reality is that we are CURRENTLY living under Federal fascism. NOW.

I've been immersed in research on Reconstruction in Lousiana and it's a very difficult truth to absorb that the white terrorist movement in the South was among the most successful terrorist movements in global history. Took 10 years but it won a total & complete victory through murder and atrocity.

We may cover this tomorrow, but I just wanted to signal boost this. After months of pushing the administration to make good on its promises for trans youth, NYC appears to be taking steps to do so. I do believe the city can be doing much more, but this is a wonderful start from Mayor Mamdani.

NYC moves to spend nearly $9M of gender-affirming care fund for minors
The funding is part of a $15 million investment announced in June as major hospitals retreated from providing such care.

The mainstream conventional wisdom in both cases is that people who are anti-AI or pro trans marginalized themselves by being too far outside the mainstream. My alternative hypothesis is that both trans activists (particularly mainstream adjacent orgs) and anti-AI people were too easy to ignore.

Hello Bone Colleagues,
I have invented a new type of ankle and I'm very excited to show it to you. Early raccoon trials suggest a 60% increase in scurrying speed and dramatic increases in fine motor banditry. I know we are not supposed to create super raccoons, but I think you'll change your mind and professional ethics when you see how cute they are. I believe we are on the cusp of a new era in advanced human scurrying because if medical science has taught me anything, it's that improvements in raccoons correspond 1:1 to improvements in humans.

You have to admire this guy's dedication to keeping it tight, despite being marooned on a desolate planet for 15 years. Ceti Alpha V didn't have food or water, but that didn't stop Khan from waxing his chest every day so that he could hunt Kirk 'round perdition's flames, tits out for revenge
Khan from Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan. He's wearing some kind of space barbarian outfit that is technically a kind of shirt but it doesn't cover his chest at all. You can see both nipples. But if I were his age and looked in great shape, I'd rock it too.

Consider these lyrics: “He looked into my eyes and thought he saw a love light shine/ Little did he know that that light was dollar signs.” The protagonist of the song lives “happy ever after/ because oil is well that ends well.”

I decided to listen to all of Dolly’s albums in order, starting from the beginning, and it’s a treat. On her second album (Just Because I’m a Woman, 1968), 6 years before “I Will Always Love You,” she released a song called “I’ll Oilwells Love You.” It’s about marrying an oil tycoon for his money.

Apparently it was a smallish abandoned A&P with a random assortment of folding chairs inside. Porter played for a while, to polite applause, then Dolly came out and everyone absolutely lost their minds. She was already building to that “I will always love you” moment.

Fun fact: Dolly Parton spent decades quietly funding band uniforms and instruments at Black high schools across the South - never once putting her name on it. No headlines, no fanfare — just help, given because it was needed. Wonderful Heart ♥️ RIP Dolly ❤️

my wife has a friend who sent Dolly Parton a painting she made & a letter explaining how much Dolly's music meant to her while she was transitioning. Dolly responded to it personally & paid for her top surgery. Sounds like an urban legend but it's real. I think we're going to more stories like this.

She also could tell a fuckin story
When the 1974 recording of the song reached number one on the country charts, Elvis Presley indicated that he wanted to record the song.
Parton was interested until Presley's manager, Colonel Tom Parker, told her that it was standard procedure for the songwriter to sign over half of the publishing rights to any song Elvis recorded.
[28] Parton refused. She recalls:
I said, 'I'm really sorry,' and I cried all night. I mean, it was like the worst thing. You know, it's like, Oh, my God... Elvis Presley.' And other people were saying, 'You're nuts. It's Elvis Presley!'...I said, 'I can't do that.
Something in my heart says, 'Don't do that. And I just didn't do it... He would have killed it. But anyway, so he didn't. Then when Whitney [Houston's version] came out, I made enough money to buy Graceland. 29]
