All of this, 💯. Thanks so much for saying this. In my experience, it seems like the aphobia often stems from the tacit social premise that all people are allosexual. The existence of ace people undermines this premise, and people get mean in their defense of it.

Honestly, the asexuality part is really important. (Polyamory too for legal reasons especially.) People always demand why asexuality requires protection, but it’s already happening in many religiously conservative places—it’s being labeled a deviant “ideology”.
