Two years ago I wrote about the death of disability activist Engracia Figueroa in 2021 after an airline broke her wheelchair. She died after developing pressure sores from an inadequate loaner chair and her family had no way to hold the airline accountable for her death.

I visited @leedsmuseums.bsky.social especially to meet this magnificent Roman, er, wolf. (The rest of of the City Museum is also worth a visit.)

We spoke to one young family this weekend, who have a six month old. They live in one room. They are limited in the work they can do. They get £50 total a week and £30 goes on baby foid. They have a bed and two chairs. No toys. Nothing.

The UK has a “hostile immigration environment” acutely felt by people who seek asylum. For queer folk, this means dealing with patronising interviews, bureaucratic disbelief, and narrow stereotypes about what it means to be gay.
