For those in the back: The total amount the New Zealand government has spent on all historical Waitangi Tribunal settlements over the last 30+ years is less than the cost of a single year of the 2024 tax cuts for Landlords.

Kieran McAnulty telling it like it is #nzpol
But Labour's campaign chair Kieran McAnulty called Luxon's comments a "weak apology".

"Just this morning, he was defending his comments, and now, after quite clearly getting an earful at cabinet, he's managed to bring himself to say that he's sorry if he caused offence."

McAnulty said that was what somebody says "when you're not really sorry".

"It's like the weakest form of apology. It's like one level up from shrugging your shoulders and saying 'whoopsie'."

McAnulty said that was why Luxon "never answers a question", because when he finally does, "he says what he thinks and nobody likes what he says".

Minister for Transport Chris Bishop and the Roads of National Significance. My #cartoon today in the Sunday Star Times. #Roading #NZpol #Health&Safety
Cartoon. Title: “Coup” Three frames. Minister for Transport Chris Bishop in the first frame, holding an orange road cone above his head, with stacks of road cones behind him. He’s saying, “The upside of building fewer roads is fewer road cones. Hehehee! Another target met! Let’s get these bad boys back in the shed” In the 2nd frame he’s running with the cone over his upper body and whistling. 3rd frame he’s fallen in a pothole. There’s a sign in the background that reads, “Road cone storage” with an arrow. Bishop is saying “Ouff! Someone should’ve marked this pot hole”
