Bleak tidbit from Regime Change — Bessent attempted a Hitler-style shakedown of Zelenskyy as one of his first acts as Treasury Secretary
“Bessent’s proposal would require Ukraine to pay the United States 50 percent of future revenue from state-owned natural resources, including hydrocarbons and rare earth minerals. The document prescribed very specific commitments from Ukraine, but offered no security commitments from the United States. Even though the minerals deal had been Zelensky’s idea, part of the “Victory Plan for Ukraine” he had recently unveiled, he was shocked by Bessent’s terms.
Zelensky explained that he was leading his country through a particularly violent phase of the three-year-old war, and insisted that he and his staff needed more time to consider the proposal. Bessent saw things very differently. He had traveled nearly five thousand miles to an active war zone to obtain Zelensky’s signature, and now Zelensky was telling him no.
“You need to sign this,” Bessent urged. “The purpose of this is to show that there is no daylight” between the U.S. and Ukraine.
Zelensky, furious, replied that the document was an attack on Ukraine’s sovereignty. This was not the way international agreements worked—this was a shakedown.”

Congress has the power to do pretty much whatever it wants with the Supreme Court. It can expand the membership of the court, and it can punish it in several ways too. We simply need to fill that Congress with a Democratic majority that has the will to use that power.

I haven’t mentioned it in a while, but I think we kind of nailed it with “gimmetarianism” some 10+ years ago.
The Gimmetarian Manifesto
1. I want what I want.
2. I want it when I want it (usually now)
3. Ghis want constitutes a natural law unless someone I don't like wants it, too.
4. 1 shall not be questioned or criticized in this want.
5. Ghis want shall not require effort, study, or critical thought on my part.
6. Any arguments or refutations of this want are evidence of my oppression.
7. This want shall be deemed to be a constitutional right.
8. Ghere shall be no consequences for attempts to achieve or justify this want.
9. Ghis want need not be consistent with any subsequent or previous wants.
10. Ghis want shall be deemed to be consistent with whatever religious or social framework I say it is because I say it is with no need to demonstrate that consistency.
So Mote It Be.

NIH funded peeps: This is insane and coming for us.
For FY 2026 RPPRs:
If there are any publications with a foreign co-author, a statement submitted through the Signing Official (SO) confirming the author will no longer publish or collaborate with the foreign partner is sufficient to show the collaboration has ended. Also indicate that no IDeA money was transferred via subcontract to an institution in a foreign country. This path will minimize delays. For FY2027 RPPRs onward:
Pls are required to submit prior approval requests for any publication co-authored with individual(s) affiliated with a foreign institution(s).
Per NOT-OD-26-026, prior approval requests must be initiated and submitted by a SO for the recipient organization.
In addition to noting the foreign site and the name of the foreign investigator, the prior approval request should provide information about the nature of the research being conducted; why the involvement of the foreign site is necessary; and whether any data will be transferred.
