High-speed rail should be a part of the movement to reduce unnecessary air travel congestion between major cities. Imagine a high speed rail network connecting Washington DC to Boston. Currently takes 7 hours by USA rail under best conditions. Modern high speed rail could make it in 3 hours.

That’s what I’m thinking about today, the quiet and consummate professionalism of the FAA employees who called a ground stop, then shut down US airspace & then worked quickly & efficiently to assist pilots in safely finding airports to land. I'm no fan of Duffy or Bedford but many accidents are a long time coming, (even years in the making), like DCA. Also, there were over 275 Part 135 (small commercial) accidents between 2021 & Dec 2024 resulting in 122 deaths. Blaming Duffy isn't the answer to keeping politics out of aviation safety.
