not that you should expect anything more than rank idiocy from this pair of racists, but the idea that whiteness means a "high trust" society of "social cohesion" is some of the stupidest shit i have ever heard. these people live in a fantasy land that you could dispel by simply opening a book.

If you want to understand why I'm not remotely worried about Newsom winning a Democratic primary, it's because he's about shoulder deep in these kinds of idiotic vetoes.

Pretty ironic for the current Republican US government, which “misplaced” billions during the occupation of Iraq, to cut off American University over accusations of financial mismanagement. Not that I would expect this admin to support the education of women, in Iraq or anywhere else.

this doesn’t actually make any sense
The Kennedy Center has held used Steinway piano sales in the past, so AlterNet reached out to Jenny at Steinway in Washington D.C. to ask if the sale was happening again this year. She explained that it would not, as the Kennedy Center had closed.
She said the shop owner intends to retire and close, so they're selling all their pianos at a heavy discount. With the Kennedy Center closed, the shop is also moving all the Steinways to offer for sale. AlterNet asked why the Kennedy Center would need to sell everything, and she made it clear that it was because it was "closed." She
referred all other questions to the Kennedy Center.

The Phantom of Heilbronn, also referred to as the Woman Without a Face, was a presumed female serial killer whose existence was inferred from DNA evidence found at 40 crime scenes across Austria, France and Germany from 1993 to 2009.

In March 2009, investigators concluded that the supposed serial killer did not exist, and the DNA belonged to a woman who worked at a factory that made the cotton swabs used for collecting DNA samples

If this is the precedent, what's to stop the president from shutting down the EPA when it turns him down for a permit? The FDA when it shuts down one of his restaurants for not being up to code? The FCC when it fairly declares a Democrat won an election?

Yeah so if a president liquidates a government entity created in legislaiton passed by Congress & funded by congressional appropriations that's super-duper unconstitutional. In normal times he'd be impeached by close of business that day.

I don't think people really appreciate the gravity of what is happening in the news industry. If you value getting reliable information from the news orgs you depend on, you need to support them with your dollars or they could disappear. This isn't hyperbole. It's happening right now in real time.

The way the Cornell victim is being publicly disbelieved by a lot of journalists, officials, and online posters is also a warning shot to every other victim not to dare to actually pursue a case against your rapist lest you suffer the same fate. It’s a means of protecting the status quo

In the legal system and in these mainstream commentary spaces, victims’ post-assault behavior is positioned as evidence of them lying, so that any feminist response to the crisis of sexual assault brought on by these high-profile cases can be deemed hysterical and unnecessary.

Socially and in the legal system, our understanding of responses to sexual violence is purposefully uninformed and therefore limited to only “perfect” victims (who don’t really exist), so that we don’t have to actually combat sexual violence or believe victims or hold perpetrators accountable.
