someone bought a new car and accidentally used my email address for it, so now i regularly get like 30-45 minute long surveys for which i write elaborate nonsense
jd power car survey question: please describe any other interior problems in as much detail as you can

response:
I had a 40 pound bag of bird food with seeds that I put in the passenger seat with a hat on it so I could drive in the HOV lane, but it turns out I ripped the bottom of the bag and bird food went all over inside of my car. I left doors open hoping birds would come eat the food (nature) and I wouldn't have to clean it up, but instead now there are creatures who live inside my car and seats. I need little animal doors installed so that they can come and go because I can't leave my doors open all of the time and I think it would reduce the confrontations I have with raccoons if they had their own little doors. I think my neighbor has been sitting in my car and being weird when I leave the doors open, so he wouldn't be able to do that if there were small doors because he is too big. He could probably only fit his hand through a little animal door into my car, which I wouldn't like, but it's a compromise.

Found the email I sent when I got accidentally added to the faculty listserv of an orthopedic surgery clinic and nobody would remove me so I sent this email to all faculty/staff/med students and they removed me almost immediately
Hello Bone Colleagues,
I have invented a new type of ankle and I'm very excited to show it to you. Early raccoon trials suggest a 60% increase in scurrying speed and dramatic increases in fine motor banditry. I know we are not supposed to create super raccoons, but I think you'll change your mind and professional ethics when you see how cute they are. I believe we are on the cusp of a new era in advanced human scurrying because if medical science has taught me anything, it's that improvements in raccoons correspond 1:1 to improvements in humans.

In a sense, this has been a fairly comprehensive test of the MAGA theory of politics: maximum cruelty with maximum visibility on social media, combined by obvious efforts at electoral bribery and relentlessly protectionist trade policies and it just...failed. Americans on the net hate all of it.

I am struck that the political theory of MAGA in Trump 2.0 is the GOP can win without sound or moral government if everyone throws red meat to the cameras as the occasional bribe. You see it with Trump, Patel, Hegseth, all of them. Anyway, Trump's approval is at, like, -23, so...no luck on that.

This line about sums up the whole “private equity” youth sports strategy: “one company is consolidating power over a sport long rooted in local nonprofits, turning youth hockey into a pay-to-play pipeline where families must spend hundreds more each year or risk being shut out.”

Everything “private investment equity” touches goes to crap. Everything. FWIW, this is happening to most youth sports programs. It’s not good.
USA today investigation. Area owner accused of youth hockey Monopoly. Kenny Jacoby, USA TODAY. A nine month investigation by USA today found former blackbear sports group CEO Murray Gunty used his private investment firm to rapidly purchase ice rinks and teams across the northeast and Midwest then leveraged that control to steer families into a costly ecosystem of leagues, tournaments and fees.

I LOVE how @propublica.org dealt with official comment here, editorially and stylistically.
The Trump administration says none of this is happening.

"DHS is NOT arresting U.S. citizens by mistake." "There are no 'indiscriminate' stops." Allegations of "racial profiling are disgusting, reckless and categorically FALSE." "The pattern is NOT of law enforcement using force." "ICE does not zip tie or restrain children."

But that is precisely what is happening, and at a far larger scale than previously reported.

this doesn’t actually make any sense
The Kennedy Center has held used Steinway piano sales in the past, so AlterNet reached out to Jenny at Steinway in Washington D.C. to ask if the sale was happening again this year. She explained that it would not, as the Kennedy Center had closed.
She said the shop owner intends to retire and close, so they're selling all their pianos at a heavy discount. With the Kennedy Center closed, the shop is also moving all the Steinways to offer for sale. AlterNet asked why the Kennedy Center would need to sell everything, and she made it clear that it was because it was "closed." She
referred all other questions to the Kennedy Center.

The Phantom of Heilbronn, also referred to as the Woman Without a Face, was a presumed female serial killer whose existence was inferred from DNA evidence found at 40 crime scenes across Austria, France and Germany from 1993 to 2009.

In March 2009, investigators concluded that the supposed serial killer did not exist, and the DNA belonged to a woman who worked at a factory that made the cotton swabs used for collecting DNA samples
