Zelenskyy: "Prices are rising because of the war in the Middle East, the blocking of Hormuz. Everyone understands it. If we want to speak with people fairly, if we want to be clear, if we want to speak with our nations openly, people have to hear reality. Don't play games with people."

Ukraine needs to increase the attacks on Russian oil, tenfold, and that means the allies need to supply more equipment and intelligence. Tyrants will only learn when they are forced to learn. With Ukraine until victory, for democracy and liberty for all.

Elon Musk routinely inserts himself into Canadian politics. Despite this, Canada’s political class continues to use Twitter — legitimizing him and his far-right talking points. Canadian politicians need to make a choice: either they support Elon Musk, or their constituents. It can’t be both.

Once again, for the politicians, business leaders, and journalists still actively posting on X/Twitter: why? You're using a platform that's owned by someone who's trying to break up your country. The juice isn't worth the squeeze.

If a neighbouring country is sending political operatives from the ruling party into Canada to advise and assist separatists on how to promote and campaign for secession from Canada and providing them with technological and logistical support for their campaign, that country is no longer an ally.

One of the biggest media failures (among many) of the past year has been the failure to cover the Venezuela "operation" for what it was--a smash-and-grab mafia state theft by the U.S. that violates international law and the rights of Venezuelans while achieving very damn little for the U.S.

I'm going to say this without pointing the finger at the person below bc they get it, but many outside Alberta, I believe, don't have a full grasp of what this movement is. It isn't like Quebec, it is almost entirely without basis and can never be mollified or appeased, only fought against.

If the Alberta NDP had any jam they'd go after this *hard* and call out the premier's ongoing campaign to turn Albertans into victims and whiners. That's not the Alberta of Lougheed, Notley...not even Klein. Instead, they'll probably talk about how these grievances are "legitimate". #abpoli

Democrats keep trying to guilt-trip Canadians into backing down. Fuck off. Deal with your own mess. This is your problem to solve, not ours. www.cbc.ca/news/politic...
Gallego, the Arizona senator, said the two sides need to figure out how to mutually step down from the current trade tensions, adding that it appeared both Trump and Prime Minister Mark Carney were playing politics when trade talks fell apart last month.
"I'm not asking Mr. Carney to just bend at the knee and give in, but this is the role of diplomacy," Gallego said. "You figure out how to actually start bringing the heat down little by little to a point where you can get to the negotiation table."
Likewise, Maine's governor, Mills, said there need to be "serious negotiations on both sides," and she hopes a third party can sit down with the two countries and make it clear a tariff fight damages both of them.
"The retaliatory tariffs, I can understand why that's happening," Mills said. "I can't say it's not damaging our economy, though."

Gerald Butts recently made this point on Substack. Alberta’s governance history is now a wingnut-conservative-wingnut sandwich, with a thin wedge of NDP cheese. Kind of puts into perspective what a gargantuan task progressives have in the province.

Since 1931, there have been 52 federal and provincial elections contested in Alberta.
The Conservative Party (in all its manifestations) has won the majority of seats in 51 of them. The sole outlier is 2015, when Rachel Notley beat a divided right.
I can't find a single example on the continent of such single party rule over a century. No red or blue state has been so thoroughly red or blue for so long.
