Today, we remember Matthew Shepard. On Oct 6, 1998, Matthew was brutally attacked in Laramie, WY because he was gay. He was a son, brother, and friend with a whole life ahead. We honor his legacy by standing against LGBTQ+ hate and fighting for a world where all live safely. #MatthewShepard

If you’re still wearing a mask, thank you. Please know you’re not alone. Many of us still mask, test and isolate when sick. Being the lone masker can be difficult, but your long term health is worth it. As a high risk, immunocompromised person… I see and appreciate you.

I realize variety shows aren't really a thing anymore. However, a variety show is exactly what people who will watch The Muppet Show are looking for. Don't complicate it.

Wake up, babe. The Prime Minister just dropped “hydronym”.
The name Lake Ontario comes from the Wendat word Ontari’io, which, appropriately, means “the lake is beautiful, the lake is big”.

The name is more than 400 years old, predating both the Confederation of Canada and the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America.

We know that America is changing. Their trading relationships, their foreign policies, their national monuments, their hydronyms.

Canadians also know that naming reality means calling it Lake Ontario – then, now and always.

Not sure American folks understand what the Tromp admin did, so bear with me here: If any country came to the U.S. & said you can’t make trade deals without our approval and also you can’t protect English as a language anymore, we think it’s inconvenient, how would you respond? Would ANGER be fair?

When people tell someone with disabilities to “just try harder”, they’re showcasing their own fear. They can’t accept that there’s illnesses from which you never recover. They can’t cope with the frailty of the human body. They need to make it a personal failing so THEY can remain in denial.

Disability will happen to almost everyone. Most people are only temporarily abled. It’s not a moral failing. It’s not a choice people make. The human body is frail. It only takes one illness, accident or stroke of bad luck to forever change your health.

Imagine if we just believed disabled people? If we trusted that they were the experts in their bodies? If we listened when they said they could do something, and supported them when they said they couldn’t. If we gave accommodations and assistance without judgment? That’s true inclusion.

Jan Mariet

I've never liked the term "Disability Pride." I'm not "proud" to be disabled, but I'm also not ashamed of it. What I am proud of is being able to exist, survive, and sometimes thrive in a world that isn't nearly as accessible as it should be.

[An image of a quote by Jan Mariet set against a background featuring the diagonal colored stripes of the Disability Pride Flag (red, gold, white, blue, and green over a dark gray field). The quote is contained within a white speech bubble with a rounded black border, and the author's name, Jan Mariet, is written in black text in the bottom right corner.]

For anyone with any kind of #diabetes who takes #insulin and/or anyone who takes #glp-1, I read an interesting report today. Eli Lilly’s charitable foundation gave away more last year than the Gates Foundation. One-third of its giving, more than $1 billion last year, went to Christian charities.
