I’ll also say this: the movie is trying very hard to please. You can tell when someone’s pushing hard to make it all work and I must assume first time director Stephen Herek gets some credit. Shame about the rough edit though. Dee Wallace MVP: she gives it her all as mommy with a shotgun.

Travis Knight’s WILDWOOD is such an astounding achievement in stop-motion that even if the story sucked, it would be a “must see.” But the story is wonderful (if a little archetypal), so the effort it took to produce this masterpiece was wholly justified. My review is at @thewrap.com!
