My chat group is starting to think the begging to be regulated is less about market capture and more about them running out of runway at the current burn rate.

My dad (US American) had both of his male children in Canada so that they could dodge the draft if need be. But neither time did they cross the border with the wife visibly laden with child. I can only imagine that usually when that happens it's to flee a war zone or other extreme situation.

Too real.
Screenshot of an Instagram post of a cartoon from the artist @PAULARTIFICE. Two men in ragged clothes are chained to a wall. One says "At least we can say we never stooped to their level." The other says "Don't forget our commitment to civility and following the rules." The music is I Fought the Law by The Bobby Fuller Four.

I suggest the “wheels on the bus” test for politicians everywhere. If you can’t do it because you come across as creepy, weird or awkward, then you shouldn’t be allowed to run. I guarantee that all the problems in the world would disappear if those who failed the test were kicked out of office.

That's horrible. They continued to run my actor friend's ad for them without compensating him as specified by the contract. They always seemed really sketchy after that, but this is really egregious.

You're saying that she should have carried a gun and shot him first? Unfortunately I think a lot of these ICE agents took the job for the money, and the worse the economy gets the more people will abandon their morals for an income.

AlphaFold is pretty legit! I would say amino acid/nucleotide sequences are some of the best use cases. But in general the AI hype is dumb. If you don't tell me*how* you use AI in the pitch I'm assuming you shoehorned it in unnecessarily.

There is no solace for NIH funded researchers in this Supreme Court decision. Grants that were ripped away on dubious grounds, restored by a reasonable judge are now again terminated by an out-of-control Supreme Court. Labs will shutter, people will lose jobs. www.reuters.com/world/us/us-...
