It's a very good quote and one that reframes a LOT of the world when you become aware of it.
“To say that straight men are heterosexual is only to say that they engage in sex (fucking exclusively with the other sex, i.e., women). All or almost all of that which pertains to love, most straight men reserve exclusively for other men. The people whom they admire, respect, adore, revere, honor, whom they imitate, idolize, and form profound attachments to, whom they are willing to teach and from whom they are willing to learn, and whose respect, admiration, recognition, honor, reverence and love they desire… those are, overwhelmingly, other men. In their relations with women, what passes for respect is kindness, generosity or paternalism; what passes for honor is removal to the pedestal. From women they want devotion, service and sex.

Heterosexual male culture is homoerotic; it is man-loving.”

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

My Spanish champion is Pontevedra Mayor Miguel Anxo Fernández Lores, who kicked cars out of city center: “It's not my duty as mayor to make sure you have a parking spot. It's the same as if you bought a cow, or fridge, and then ask me where you're going to put them.”

This Spanish city has been restricting cars for 24 years. Here's what we can learn from it
Pontevedra, Spain, offers some of the best evidence available about what happens when a city is reconfigured to accommodate people, rather than cars.

1/2 📣 PLS DISCUSS/SHARE: I posted earlier (🧵 t2m.co/cgKdpyHy) about the ability of our adversaries —in this case, Iran— to manipulate Trump via psych profiling. It left me quite unnerved; I had to write a longer follow up. ⬇️ Vids: 📺 youtube.com/shorts/fEgrN... 📺 youtu.be/Nnb6iOubt14?... (7:44 in)
The press continues to dance around Donald Trump's mental health while the Iranians are engaging psychologists that have profiled him — he is mentally unstable, has dementia, and they are using that info, reading his unhinged tweets, to jerk him around at will.

Thus they know exactly how to trigger him and derail negotiations to their favor.

This is the price we all pay for the normalizing and sanewashing of Donald Trump's mental illness. The Goldwater rule doesn't stop the average person from seeing the obvious. The President of the United States is incapacitated and our adversaries know it and don't have to dance around it. They can use it to their own advantage. And have been while we dither around.

How in the world can we allow our adversaries to take advantage of what we see every damn day — Donald Trump is mentally ill, physically deteriorating, needs exams multiple times a year. He sees 22 medical specialists. We don't know his full medication list or what they are for. We have no credible explanation of his mysterious disappearances from public view and bruising on both hands that's definitely not from hand shaking or aspirin.

The press allowed to speak with his physicians or even know who they are.

But he's been profiled by our adversaries (and likely captains of industry!) and they know how to roll Donald Trump and therefore the United States of America.

This is a national emergency. Our leaders are unserious.

2/2 This is not rocket science; of course countries gather intel on world leaders, make psych profiles, etc. But how in the hell can we ignore a POTUS clearly mentally & psychologically out of control & unfit to serve. That's a national security risk and we see the results of not dealing w/it.

The world is not divided between East and West. You are American, I am Iranian, we don't know each other, but we talk and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you.
And our governments are very much the same.

Ukrainian strikes have forced Russia’s major oil refineries to shut down, bringing fuel production to a halt and pushed the Kremlin to urgently stop all fuel exports. This marks a win in Ukraine’s refinery campaign; the effects of those strikes are now crippling the wider Russian fuel system.
