Dems could just say “everyone deserves to play sports.” (And some Dems are.) Being on offense would be saying “my opponent thinks the best use of the people’s time is to punish little kids for wanting to play.”

It’s not like Dems don’t know that most trans athletes are kids who have no advantage in leagues where the competition is for funsies. Or that half are trans boys. Or that serious leagues address fairness with rules (not laws). Or that bigotry often prevents athletes from playing already.

The idea that Dems are “on the offense” over trans kids playing sports because some of them are pro-actively saying “boys shouldn’t play girls’ sports” is pretty absurd. That is 1000% being on the defensive.

Also: this feels very much like an attempt to soften the blow on what might some really bad numbers. What is it that “Current EBITDA” doesn’t capture, exactly? Or is it more a problem of exactly what it captures - an unprofitable, unsustainable business that burns tend of billions of dollars?

Established companies are typically valued more heavily on earnings, or EBITDA, which gives investors a sense of the economics of the business.
For Anthropic, however, current EBITDA does not fully capture the economics investors expect the company to achieve at scale. Anthropic is spending enormous amounts on GPUs and other computing capacity, model training, inference and hiring. Those expenses are necessary to support its rapid expansion but could become a smaller percentage of revenue as the business
grows.

A group of ~40 high school boys were at the Riverwalk on Saturday. An old man commented “one of those boys will be pushed in the water” He couldn’t have been more wrong. The guys were stellar to each other and everyone nearby. I am ready for the generation of asshat bullies to finally be usurped.
