Oh nothing, my PCP just started crying in our appointment because so few of her patients can actually afford the care and meds they need and she has to watch them erode in front of her. Healthcare access is good for patients *and* maintaining the sanity and longevity of the healthcare workforce.

Some people might not be aware, but it is entirely possible that without Dolly Parton we wouldn’t have had a COVID vaccine. She partly funded Moderna’s research and gave the largest individual contribution to make it all happen. Just gives you an idea of the kind of person she was.

first post reads: Pro-censorship wattpad refugees drama is so funny to me because when I started using ao3 as a kid I was a devout mormon and I thought that reading anything even remotely pornagraphic was a sin and would ruin my life. So when I was 13 and found ao3 I went "oh awesome I found a fanfic website with a filtering system so I won't ever randomly stumble into porn. This is great! I was really worried about seeing something I didn't want to see on the other platforms." I didn't read any smut online until like three years later. If a mormon 13 year old can figure out 'don't like don't read' wattpad users can too cmon you guys i believe in you.

Some asshole said that depicting one’s own self harm was the same as maliciously encouraging others to do it. I might agree w/ “seeing self harm content increases the risk of viewers self harming” but this was straight up “I saw you do it. That means you’re pressuring others to do it.” Just sick.

I think about this at least a dozen times a day.

people end up unable to see depiction as anything other than endorsement when their entire cultural diet is escapist fun and reassurance. they see something make them uncomfortable and can only assume people are watching horrible shit as vicarious pleasure and are horrified.
