A trans man in the UK has been banned in the workplace restrooms after he was forced to use the women's restrooms to comply with the new EHRC guidance. The women complained because he is visibly male and so they told him he can't use any bathroom.
A screenshot of a Reddit post from the r/LegalAdviceUK subreddit by user Dijstraanon, titled "FtM transgender facing two different issues at work? England."
The post text reads:
"Brother in law is trans FtM and presents fully as a man. He's now facing an impossible situation at work with his employer telling him that due to recent legislation he must use the toilet of his birth gender. BUT several female colleagues have raised a grievance about him using their gendered toilet.
His employer has told him that he cannot use the toilet while he is at work until they sort it out and cannot give him a timeframe to do so. They do [cut off] have disabled separate toilets.
In the mean time one of his female colleagues has accused him of sexual harassment because he was used their gendered toilet. His menstrual cycle meant he needed to use the toilet.
He's been with the employer for just over 5 years but only in this location for 18 months. The location is mainly male with just a handful of females, and his workshop only has male toilets.
I do not know how to support him and as he's not in a union there is no one to turn too right now."

You cannot understand emergency management today without understanding how the Bush administration & Congress took advantage of the post-9/11 shock to create the homeland security apparatus.
Just a few months later, two planes crashed into the Twin Towers and the window was opened for the largest reorganization of the federal government since the National Security Act of 1947. US emergency management was turned upside down, as reckless policy decisions that contradicted decades of disaster research and emergency management expertise were imple-mented. 402 The cataclysmic post-9/11 policy changes laid the groundwork for the failed response to Hurricane Katrina and the levee failure only a few years later, 403 and still contribute to slow and ineffective responses today. The most significant of these changes was the creation of the Department of Homeland Security. A month after 9/11, Senator Joseph Lieberman (D-CT) and Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA) cosponsored a bill that took inspiration from the concept of the National Homeland Security Agency, proposing the creation of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). As had happened when Representative Thornberry introduced nearly the same bill in the House months before, hearings were held, but no vote taken. The Bush administration, with support from the Hart-Rudman findings, presented a similar bill to Congress in June 2002. With pressure from the White House, the bill finally passed, and DHS was created. FEMA was subsumed by DHS along with other agencies, including the Coast Guard and Secret Service. In the reorganization, FEMA lost its status as anindependent, cabinet-level agency. Across the country, emergency management agencies got whiplash. 404
As this drastic reorganization and refocus of the federal government was underway, Congress wanted answers about the circumstances that led to the 9/11 attacks including an analysis of how intelligence agencies had failed to communicate with one another before the attack. Most relevant for emergency man-agement, Congress also wanted a better understanding of the effectiveness of the response at the Pentagon and in New York City. The answers to these questions were compiled into the 9/11 Commission Report released in 2004.405 The 9/11 Commission's findings concerned many emergency management ex-perts. 406 The Commission found that the immediate life-saving response measures conducted at the Pentagon had been success-ful. On the contrary, they criticized the response measures in New York City as uncoordinated. This conclusion ran counter to the findings of disaster researchers in important ways. Disaster scholars documented first responders running into the towers, despite knowing they might never run back out. Inside the towers, people banded together to help each other out of the buildings, carrying coworkers who were disabled down dozens of flights of stairs, resulting in upward of sixteen thousand people evacuating in just 102 minutes.
Those who died were largely located on the floors above where the planes collided, making evacuation impossible.
Those who escaped the towers found people outside ready to guide them out of the dust. Local businesses opened their doors to offer refuge, and others handed out water or bandaged

ICE vehicle - black Nissan Maxima with plate cover - posted up in a spot that also serves as an elementary school bus stop. Another ICE vehicle, black Dodge Durango, lurking around the community. Two more ICE vehicles - black Dodge Durango and a white SUV, unclear on make, model - on a quiet residential street, being quietly creepy. Note that the white SUV has its plate covered. Yet another ICE vehicle. Black Nissan Pathfinder. They were all over the neighborhood.

After unexpectedly winning her first blue ribbon for a sewn cape in 1981, Carol St. Clair Johnson developed an enduring love for the New Mexico State Fair. The quilt Fair New Mexico-41 Fair Years incorporates more than six hundred of the ribbons she won at the fair every subsequent year except 2020 (when the fair was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic). Johnson earned ribbons for needlework, knitting, crochet, pies, cookies, cakes, canning, jewelry, flowers, vegetables, and potted plants. The title of the quilt is a reference to the state song, and the design places the state's Zia sun symbol at the center. The quilt earned Johnson yet another ribbon: Best in Category (miscellaneous quilt) at the 2023 New Mexico State Fair.

This is insane. When I was in first grade my parents let me walk 3 blocks to school in the mornings, and home after it was over. The independence that I got as a child helped me so much in my life. No parent should face charges for something like this, let alone be convicted!
In June, when Parkinson was preparing for the bar—and also happened to be eight months pregnant with her fifth child—she and her then-youngest, Sam, went for a bike ride, as they often do. They stopped for her son's favorite activity: collecting goose feathers from the path near their community pond. When they got home, he asked if he could walk back and get some more.

Parkinson said yes. It's a short walk, along a sidewalk separated from the street by 10 feet of grass. Sam would have to cross two streets with crosswalks, which she'd seen him do safely hundreds of times—including six times that morning, she says. Off he went while she made lunch.

A passerby saw Sam and alerted security. One of the community's security guards escorted the boy back and gave Parkinson an earful. Pretty soon there were three cop cars, just as many cops, a security vehicle, and two Child Protective Services (CPS) workers at Parkinson's door.

CPS ended up investigating her for abuse and neglect.

The cops, meanwhile, charged her with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. CPS found the allegations substantiated and placed Parkinson on the state's child abuse and neglect registry. She will remain there for seven years.
