Despite good birds either side of us at Holy Isle and Newton, migrants were notably scarce. The highlight was 250 Little Gulls ,with three Bramblings + four Redpolls also recorded. With little else moving, attention turned to a close Grey Plover #BudleBay #NEbirding

Budle Bay, late afternoon - 3 Spotted Redshanks, 8+ Greenshanks and a very distant Great White Egret (5th record, says Budle guru @budlebirder.bsky.social), but the Brents were too distant to pick out the Black Brant #NEbirding

Six Spotted Redshank was the biggest patch count for quite a while, but today was all about House Martin passage, 827 passed through in just 4 hours — a new record day count for the patch #NEbirding

A near 5m high tide this afternoon brought the waders right onto the saltmarsh, giving superb close views. Highlight was three pristine juvenile Spotted Redshanks #NEbirding

Spent the morning just over the 'border' at Bamburgh. Yesterday's Red-backed Shrike was still present but kept its distance, while a Barred Warbler was typically elusive. A few other migrants inc Redstart, Whinchat, Lesser Whitethroat .Surprisingly, not a single Pied Fly #NEbirding

Fresh northerly winds and squalls during a rather disappointing 4-hour seawatch at Annstead. These two Bonxies, 2 Sooty Shearwaters, 8 Manx, an adult Pom and 8 Arctic Skuas were the highlights #NEbirding

A quiet morning with the cloud finally breaking mid-afternoon to reveal an Osprey. An impressive count of 18 Mediterranean Gulls was the second-highest day count for the Bay. Also notable were the first juv Blackwits and Merlin of the autumn #BudleBay #NEbirding

Not long now until the summering Pale-bellied Brent is joined by the first returning wintering birds. Also, today's total of 20 Mediterranean Gulls set a new record, making it the highest known day count recorded for the bay #NEBIRDING

Another notable obs today was an adult Avocet accompanied by four juveniles. Given the age of the young birds, they are prob likely to have bred locally. If so.this could represent the first breeding record for #BudleBay and the Lindisfarne NNR #NEBIRDING
