Talking about the Arsenal-Coventry fixture my son suggested a new tradition of the Premier League champions playing the Championship champions to open every season, with both trophies on display. I have to say I quite like that idea.

For this.weekinsecurity.com, I wrote about how hackers are helping criminal gangs hijack and steal delivery trucks packed full of consumer goods — from vapes to lobster meat heists, to potentially 12 tons of KitKat bars. It's a growing but underreported problem. I explain more for subscribers. ❤️

How hackers are helping criminal gangs hijack truck deliveries
Cargo hijackings are on the rise, as cybercriminals use remote access tools to track and divert large shipments of high-end goods from delivery trucks around the world.

Today is officially the 30th anniversary of Steamed Hams. On April 14, 1996, "22 Short Films About Springfield" aired for the first time!
Steamed Hams full transcript

Well, Seymour, I made it- despite your directions.
Ah.
Superintendent Chalmers.
Welcome.
- I hope you're prepared for an unforgettable luncheon.
- Yeah.
Oh, egads! My roast is ruined.
But what if I were to purchase fast food and disguise it as my own cooking? Delightfully devilish, Seymour.
Ah- Skinner with his crazy explanations The superintendent's gonna need his medication When he hears Skinner's lame exaggerations There'll be trouble in town tonight Seymour! Superintendent, I was just- uh, just stretching my calves on the windowsill.
Isometric exercise.
Care to join me? Why is there smoke coming out of your oven, Seymour? Uh- Oh.
That isn't smoke.
It's steam.
Steam from the steamed clams we're having.
Mmm.
Steamed clams.
Whew.
Superintendent, I hope you're ready for mouthwatering hamburgers.
I thought we were having steamed clams.
D'oh, no.
I said steamed hams.
That's what I call hamburgers.
You call hamburgers steamed hams? Yes.
It's a regional dialect.
- Uh-huh.
Uh, what region? - Uh, upstate New York.
Really.
Well, I'm from Utica, and I've never heard anyone use the phrase "steamed hams.
" Oh, not in Utica.
No.
It's an Albany expression.
I see.
You know, these hamburgers are quite similar to the ones they have at Krusty Burger.
Oh, no.
Patented Skinner burgers.
Old family recipe.
- For steamed hams.
- Yes.
Yes.
And you call them steamed hams despite the fact that they are obviously grilled.
Ye- You know, the- One thing I should- - Excuse me for one second.
- Of course.
Well, that was wonderful.
A good time was had by all.
I'm pooped.
Yes.
I should be- Good Lord! What is happening in there? - Aurora borealis.
- Uh- Aurora borealis at this time of year at this time of day in this part of the country localized entirely within your kitchen? - Yes.
- May I see it? No.
Seymour.
! The house is on fire.
! No, Mother.
It's just the northern lights.
Well, Seymour, you are an odd fellow but I must say you steam a good ham.

Generation discourse is so silly once you realize that most of the music that was so meaningful to you as a teen was probably created by people in a previous generation. And some of the kids’ music is more than alright.

the time it takes them to do the swap out as well, which you have kind of just proven to me. So the bottom line is, if you download the show within an hour of me hitting publish, you probably get the ads. If you download it, say, 3 hours after I hit publish... no ads. Stupid Apple.

file. So, one feed, but they replace the files. Problem is... Apple doesn't refresh the feed immediately. I've had to wait for as long as an hour before they refresh the RSS feed so I can upload the ad free file and they swap it out. Because they have this lag, I've SUSPECTED that there's a lag in

Supercast, has a totally separate feed, where I upload a DIFFERENT mp3 file of the show without the ads. Apple doesn't do it that way. Apple needs to see the WITH ADS show show up in the main feed first, THEN you have to upload the AD FREE file so that Apple can replace the AD file with the AD FREE

Well, there's not a "good" reason for it, but you've proven something is happening that I suspected was happening. So... stick with me for a second. There's the "main" rss feed hosted on Megaphone. I upload a file that has the ads in it, and hit publish. Then, the other subscription service....

One of the frustrating things of this job is, sometimes I have to talk about things that drive me crazy. Sometimes I have to quote things I personally disagree with. But my JOB is to tell you what I think is happening. My opinions should hopefully come into it as little as possible.
110
Brian McCullough @brianmc.bsky.social · 09/12/2025
Yeah, this question comes up from time to time. But look, this is WHY I say "quote" and "unquote" all the time even though its annoying. If Brian wants to give an opinion, I try to make it clear when I do so. And my job is to tell you what is happening, as I see it, whether I agree with it or not.
