I’ve always had huge respect for the RNLI, especially since living in a town with a lifeboat crewed by many of my neighbours. It makes me so angry to see the fascist scum on the south coast giving RNLI volunteers shit. Supports the heroes. Fuck the fascists. Donate: shop.rnli.org/products/don...

Harvey has the skills, but I don’t think he is fast enough, strong enough, or - damingly - fit enough for the role of the PL. Italy is probably the ideal league for him: technical, slower, less intense physically

100%. He’s technically and intellectually good enough, but he is slow and physically small/weak. Never going to make it in England, much less at an Iraola side.

Same, but Bajectic just needs regular games to rebuild himself. Celta is his home club; great move for him. He was never going to get up to speed enough at LFC to feature. Apparently we have a buy-back so - like Quansah - maybe it will happen some day. I worry he has missed the boat through injury

PSG is state funded: they have effectively unlimited money (like City) so use money as a weapon to damage rivals. They bankrupt Barcelona by inflating the market absurdly; FCB fell into their trap of trying to compete financially. PSG cares what this cost Liverpool, but not what they make on it.

Brian Corcoran @briancorcoran.bsky.social · 31/08/2026
He’s not athletic enough: doesn’t have the pace or physicality required, at least for an Iraola team (or the PL in general). Spain might work for him, but a Italy probably better suited (slower)

This is the crux of it for me: FSG have lost interest. Gordon has not wanted to run the club for several years, effectively re-hired Edwards as his replacement (with multi-club as a key part of the new plan). Once they opted against MCO, Edwards also lost interest. Hughes seems out of his depth

Agree. Frimpong was great at Alonso’s Leverkusen because he was RWB in a “back” 5. Not good enough defensively for a back 4 - and probably not good enough offensively to play wing. We’ll sell him next summer. The clubs has had 18 months to replace TAA and simply has not done it

Carragher has become a tabloid paradox of himself, unfortunately. I don’t see the club being quick to grant him access in the future given his hyperbolic nonsense

“Pleasure” is a relative concept of course, but perhaps Huxley’s notion of pleasure might more accurately be transposed to the modern world as “destracted & entertained”

Brian Corcoran @briancorcoran.bsky.social · 24/08/2026
Yeah, Wirtz remains a problem in defence & is not yet enough of a threat in attack to outweigh those downsides. Little option but to persist with him for now, I think. Having an actual defensive midfielder would really help! Nico Gonzalez available from City for £45m apparently. I’d take him

Brian Corcoran @briancorcoran.bsky.social · 22/08/2026
I’d say the in-house option is the most likely though: Julian Ward. They gave it to him when Edwards left last time, and then he left within a year - for presumably the same Jurgen-shaped reasons. The fact that FSG rehired him says a lot

I don’t know enough about the individuals tbh, can only judge on their transfer dealings - which is of course a) not all they do b) an incomplete picture c) context dependent. Taking someone from a well run smaller club seems the model: Leipzig, Brighton, etc. not sure it worked with Hughes though

Next summer we also probably need to replace both Ali and Virgil. Even with the crop of excellent young CBs, I could still see a Bastoni coming in to be the senior figure. Don’t think Mamardashvili is going to cut it.

I definitely agree that the future CB options look better than ever. We”ll still need one more “senior” centre back next summer, I reckon, if Virgil leaves (as will Joe). Eg Bastoni would be 28, with a year left on his contract. Konsa will be 29, same situation.

I hate the hyper-commercialisation of football but the time when there was a real chance to do anything about it has long passed. Did you put money into Share Liverpool FC in 2008? That was probably the last chance we had. Many fans complain about rich owners but never did anything to prevent it

In the complete absence of suitable regulation, English football clubs are effectively just private businesses to be traded. Successful ones will attract successful, wealthy buyers. We can pretend otherwise, but football chose unregulated capitalism a long time ago. Far too late for any 50%+1 etc
