Also on #IUIS2025 Day 3: keynote by Ruslan Medzhitov. Pet shop mice have pre-existing immunity (look at the size of those LNs!) and a crowded "antigenic space" with Th1/17/reg immunity. Allergic sensitization in SPF mice is possible because the antigenic space is available for full blown Th2

Later on: @victora.bsky.social at RockefellerU used brainbow mice to study BCR evolution in individual GCs - tl;dr: GCs mostly do mutations that are easy, not most enhancing/ GCs are intolerant to loss of affinity / clonal bursts are not main drivers: rather slow evolution biased to higher affinity

I have had the pleasure of having extended, unscripted conversations with so many of my scientific role models, of attending conferences and making friends along the way. But sometimes impostor syndrome creeps in: “𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘺 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘺𝘢𝘱 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢 𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘳?"
