Most people think that “the most segregated hour in America” is 10 AM Sunday morning because of church. But really it’s post-church lunch at the upscale taco restaurant.

As a Religious Studies professor I fervently believe in “religious literacy.” I also believe in political literacy, which includes not being a mark who thinks that Christian nationalists introducing the Bible in schools is going to serve that goal.

I am BEGGING news outlets to hire some actual experts on religion (and maybe some editors?) The world should not be forced to read headlines like this: “Lost sermon by Saint in Pope Leo-JD Vance debate found 1,600 years later”
Newsweek article cover showing a manuscript on the left and Jd Vance and pope Leo on the right. Headline reads: Lost sermon by Saint in Pope Leo-JD Vance debate found 1,600 years later”

Can we just start suing companies that use ai in their marketing? The amount of scam products that thrive on ai is revolting. Worse is that so many people are using it because it must actually work.

Friendly reminder to those preaching this Palm Sunday: Donkeys are status symbols and riding into Jerusalem in this way is a royal and triumphant event. He might as well have rode in on a war horse. One of the points of this story is that God’s humility is not antithetical to his triumph.

Have you ordered your Christmas eels yet? Don't delay! Medieval kings often served eels at their Xmas feasts. In 1213, King John had 10,000 eels at his holiday party. His son, Henry, once ordered up 40,000! So get on it! You don't want your party to be the First Nö-eel, do you? 🗃️🧪
Meme. Painting of the wise men coming to see the baby Jesus. Mary, in a blue cloak, is holding the baby while Joseph stands behind her in brown clothes. Mary looks adoring, and Joe looks old. His hair is gray, and he's balding, & he looks like a man who'd need to worry about his young wife stepping out. There are a couple of women in the background who look like they're gossiping.

The cow is looking on in the background, peering out of a cave and lowering over an empty manger with the sense of an animal that would like it's trough back, please.

The whole right side of the scene is take up by the wise men and their massive entourage. One of the magi is bending to receive Jesus' infant blessing (which may smell like spit up). The others await their turn They're all super-wealthy; even their horse is gold-bedecked. But are they going to set the Holy Family up for life? Nope. They're gonna leave some party favors and jet. Kings, man.

Meme text reads:
"Anguilles we have heard on high!"
