Deeply saddened and angered to hear about the death of Jason Arday. Whatever mistakes he made, it didn't have to end like this. I think we all know if he was some white dude he just wouldn't have gotten this kind of pressure and international scrutiny.

The ARC has released their new set of grant schemes ▶️ www.arc.gov.au/news-and-pub... Before implementing them, they’re now going to “consult with the sector”. Hopefully genuinely, not just with a few disengaged DVCRs. In the meantime, there’ll be another round of Discovery Projects (DP28).

Here's a cool study I played a small part in: lnkd.in/g8YC7QFX Take home message (IMO): eating a healthy diet after eating a high fat, high sugar diet can improve (but not entirely reverse) memory deficits. No such effects on anxiety, motivation, or depression-like behaviour. If you're a rat 😉

I would add to this that journals are increasingly asking more of reviewers (e.g. format reviews in a specific way, long consults on top of reviewing) which I understand the reasoning for, but it does increase burden, and increase difficulty to find reviewers. www.theguardian.com/science/2025...
