Protip: you do not have to watch the new Harry Potter trailer. I did not watch the new Harry Potter trailer, and I am doing great. If I had watched the new Harry Potter trailer, I am sure to have felt regretful and like I had betrayed many wonderful trans folks just living their lives.

More Call of Cthulhu yesterday, for the conclusion to an investigation of a haunted house! Plenty of scares polished off by a confrontation with the culprit, whom despite his prodigious magical and martial prowess turned out to be weak to Point Blank Shotgun. Everyone survived. Physically.

Hard to disagree with this. Microsoft is literally the tech company most complicit in the genocide in Gaza. The least you can do is add a note about that. If complicity in a genocide isn't where you draw the line, then where would you? What would it take? I genuinely wonder.

Some thoughts about writing stuff, in no particular order (this might be a long-ish thread): 1. When Old Man's War came out (2005), lots of people read it and assumed I was conservative, because of its subject matter, and sub-genre, me being a white dude from Ohio, and other various factors.

🎂 It's my special cake and candles day you all have to be nice to me because it's been QUITE the year 🎂 So share some of my paintings??
In the pew-lined interior of a dim medieval church lit by rows of candles on tall staffs and pale sunlight coming through a window, a tall humanoid crow figure with flowing black robes and a glowing yellow eye stands beneath an ornately carved semicircular arch in Norman Romanesque style. On the wall surrounding the arch are many colourful murals depicting more humanoid crow figures with halos, carrying various items including swords, spears, harps, and chalices.
A painting set in a cosy shady woodland clearing on a sunny summer's day. In the centre of the frame, two figures sit on a fallen log mostly hidden by vegetation. The figure on the right has wavy blonde hair down past her shoulders, and wears a flowing white floor-length dress with long sleeves, with delicate lacework around the cuffs and neckline. She looks into the distance with a contemplative, sad expression. On her lap rests a small green book, covered by both of her hands.
The figure on the left sits leaning with her head against shoulder of the other figure. She wears a similar dress but simpler, and in a dark slate grey. Her hair is dark and straight, and flows down her tilted face, and she looks off towards a nightingale bird perched on a nearby branch. She raises a hand towards the other figure as if to get her attention.

Both figures are surrounded by various flowers. On the left of the frame are many spires of foxglove flowers in vivid pink and white, interspersed among green stinging nettles. On the right are the purple flowers of monkshood/wolfsbane.

Wrapping around the figures is a clear stream flowing from a distant pond that descends in a series of steps. Around the stream are many small mossy rocks, and shoots of dark green dog's mercury.

Above and behind the figures and flowers are two trees; on the left is a weeping willow with dangling dark green leaves. On the right are the branches of an old ash tree.A snowy scene in which a humanoid figure in long black robes with the head of a rook stands in a churchyard holding a long spear. By its feet is a red fox. Both are flecked with fallen snow. Around them are many weathered snow-covered graves. In the background is a medieval church of warm coloured stone with large rectangular windows and a battlemented parapet topped with pinnacles. Behind the main body of the church is the tower with clock face and belfry. Behind the church are tall but bare trees dusted with snow. More snow falls in the air.A snowy scene in which a humanoid figure in long black robes with the head of a rook stands in a churchyard holding a long spear. By its feet is a red fox. A warrior ceremony in ancient Crete We know so little about religious rituals in Minoan culture that I can't tell you what is happening here. But we can assume that war also played a role in them. Here my task was to imagine what it could've looked like if you were there. Client: Board & Dice
Ancient Minoan warrior kneeling in front of a woman whose face we don't see. He's bowing his head and ceremoniously handing her a gilded battle axe. She is dressed like royalty and wears jewelry, he's decked out in his battle armor. In the background, soldiers with leather shields and spears stand in a row.

had to draw this
Art of two girls, one with a faux-realistic-style combat suit with a muzzle and collar with a leash on, and the other in an anime-inspired zip-up suit with bright red hair and a yellow scarf flowing in the wind. The first stares ahead, hands out, with a dead, glassy look. She says "Me and my Mecha Unit are melded together like
flesh. When I exit the womb of the angel of death
I can feel the monster I am for a brief moment
before the post-combat sedatives kick in. My limbs
are too short. My flesh too weak. My body too
malleable. I only feel at peace when I am in Her,
gnashing my teeth at the chance to enter the
ring of glory and come out victorious. It is a
brutal, animalistic life, and yet how am I
supposed to pass for anything resembling a
human when I've been taught to be nothing
but a hound with a thirst for blood?"
The anime-inspired girl says "Golly!
That sounds
intense!
Me and my
robot
have been
best friends
since I was
five years old
and our bond
lets us punch
aliens with
giant energy
beam fists."

Here's a record of my converted Lokhust Heavy Destroyer so that I can link to it when asked! One day I'll paint it, but at least this way you can see the Green Stuff.
A converted Necron miniature for Warhammer 40,000. It's a Lokhust (locust) Heavy Destroyer.

The top half is a robot skeleton carrying a massive laser cannon. The lower half is a sleek hover platform.

The miniature is unpainted, and you can see green modelling putty at its wrists and the back of its head where I've had to make two separate kits work together. Another angle of the Destroyer. This picture doesn't show anything new about it, but you can see some boltguns that I've copied out of milliput on the table as part of an in-progress project.A third picture of the Destroyer, this time side on. The hover platform which comprises its lower body is fully visible, including the three vents on each side and the way the upper body's spine continues into the insectile carapace of the platform.A view of the Destroyer from the other side, highlighting where its left wrist connects with its giant cannon. Tendrils of Green Stuff coil up its arm, implying something almost organic is connecting the Necron and its weapon (or maybe they're just wires).
