After 3 month break for nesting birds it was back to measuring dipwells today. Following the dam installations this chappie had been submerged for a long time, but has reappeared on our crispy moors. Good to see some surviving pools and dragonfly activity. @moorsforthefuture.bsky.social

A well made and moving film, worth watching on a larger screen to see the incredible drone footage by Derby Mountain rescue. Sadly they're all probably busy again today attending the fire off the Snake Pass. 🤞🏼 For a rainy bank holiday!🤞🏼

It has been three years since the UK Government announced that it would ban the sale of peat for use in the amateur gardening sector, yet there is still no sign of legislation to enact the ban.

Something is wrong with our Sssi approach. As an owner of an unfavorable/recovering site it sometimes feels as if the designation creates more delay than encouragement when planning conservation. There must be a focus now on moving all sites to a favourable condition.

Day 7 of #ArtAdventCalendar. (I’ve made it a whole week!) 👏🏽 This is my coloured pencil drawing called ‘The Last Curlew’. It was used in ‘Red Sixty Seven’, a collaborative book filled with love letters from artists and writers to the UK’s red listed birds. (Book available on the BTO’s website.)
‘The Last Curlew’ a coloured pencil drawing by Kerrie Ann Gardner. In the drawing, a lone Eurasian Curlew (Numenius arquata) flies amid a dusk-pink sky over wetlands as the new moon rises. The image is one of 67 used in the BTO’s ‘Red Sixty Seven’ book which was created to help raise awareness of the UK’s vulnerable red-listed birds and to fund projects to protect them.
