This could have been prevented by withdrawing all diplomatic personnel from Iran. Why do we European countries still have open Embassies there?

It always weirds me out how unproblematically people just refer to the Church as "Catholic" in the first millennium (especially the first half). You could just as reasonably call it "Orthodox," but imagine how upset that would make people, and yet the implications in reverse are much the same.

This one is actually interesting. My assumption with this type of post is that it's actually good intelligence, as filtered through the spongy mess that's Trump's brain. Let's go through it. 1/5

With that, the threat that is the Strait of Hormuz will become less relevant to the point that it being closed is of little consequence. The IRI has overplayed its hand.

If you are a kid/young adult who seeks to learn something: this. You will have even less chance of retaining what you didn't study, than what you crammed desperately for. Ideally you do neither, but realistically. You want a chance of success if the internet is down.

Well, that was a fun eclipse. Interesting to see the Sun as a crescent for a change. Got close to a dozen people who came to watch through my telescope. (Myself pictured.) Handed out some eclipse glasses I had brought, even got a couple back.
Photo of a white man looking through a telescope.

The man is seen from the side, looks notably overweight, and is looking into the telescope from the side. He's wearing brown pants, a light shirt, and he has a long beard.

The telescope is a refractor, it's mounted on a tripod, and has a solar filter applied to the front somewhat amateurishly.

This is all on a grassy field between some trees with some houses in the background. The trees cast shadows, and the picture is clearly taken during the day.

"[A] Deal, or Total Surrender". I think this makes clear the nigh-impossible goal he's after. There is no consideration of regime-change, which is easier than both, and more importantly the right thing to do.

Alright, throwing this into the wind. Reposts appreciated (and I don't usually say that). I am open to work in Anchorage, AK. Ideally want to make no less than around $25/hr (because with how CoL is going even that would be tight), but will seriously consider anything.

ADDENDUM: $1500 is technically still outside my budget right now though, so if anyone can throw a few bucks it would be appreciated. I’d prefer my mother not have to cover $1000 of this, given that she’s already paid for a lot of expenses associated with the move to Anchorage.
