Sunday’s sunset sky. [Wasatch Front of the Rocky Mountains, Draper, Utah]
iPhone photograph taken in Draper, Utah at the base of the Wasatch Front of the Rocky Mountains, facing east as the sun sets behind us. Above a mountain ridge are layers of storm clouds that have separated and show peeks of blue sky. The clouds are intensely illuminated by the setting sun in rich shades of pink and purple.

Factually untrue. Data centers are absolutely poisoning communities, from fumes from their diessel generators, to the incessant loud noise, to the climate-destabilizing massive amounts of CO2, plus hazardous and harmful air pollution & coal ash from their electricity generation.

To be fair the data centers are not doing that! (Aside from maybe noise if there’s not enough sound insulation). Data centers are just servers in a room. Natural gas plants attached to data centers are doing all that and that’s why we shouldn’t power these data centers that way

Ink and acrylic on canvas
Lavenham Contemporary, Suffolk
In The Going Down Of The Sun Paul Evans transforms the English landscape into something elemental and surreal. A cottage stands quietly in the distance, its lights lit against a field bristling with dry stalks and seedheads. Above it all hovers under a sun suspended in a sky that seems to hum with unnatural heat. The painting's tension-between tranquility and fervor, night and fire-amplifies Evans's signature interest in atmospheric contradiction.

Working in ink and acrylic, Evans captures not the literal, but the remembered and intuited countryside:
East Anglia in late season, sensed rather than seen. The Going Down Of The Sun both astronomical anomaly and symbolic quietus, becomes a point of psychic stillness in a field charged with latent movement.

Keogram: What if you could see the entire sky—all at once—for an entire year? That, very nearly, is what is pictured here. Every 15 sec during 2025, an all-sky camera took an image of the sky over NL. Central columns from these images were then aligned and combined to create the featured keogram.

The oxygen that keeps us alive comes from natural ecosystems: half on land, half at sea. It's not complicated: we are TOTALLY dependent on the living world. Yet it's still treated as nothing but 'resources', to exploit and destroy for profit.
