Nice to see that my contribution to Obverse Books' Black Archives, #68, is now available in a bundle alongside some excellent authors. The reprint includes updates to cover the Blu-ray release, too.

To soften the blow of the new prices, and because I know some folk wait for the 10 book bundles - plus I don't want to start charging them more when they're both patient and loyal! - we've released the next bundle early (books 61 - 70), and we'll hold it at the old price until the end of the month.

The 33 1/3 books were, in fact, one of the first things we mentioned when considering starting the Black Archives.
010
The Black Archive @blackarchive.co.uk · 14/09/2026
And I can recommend them all, for equally obvious reasons (though yes, the books on Deadly Assassin and Castrovalva are very good!)
010
The Black Archive @blackarchive.co.uk · 12/09/2026
And remember, if you're wanting to order a pile of Archives at once - particularly, but not exclusively if you're not in the UK - it's worth dropping the support email address a line and we can see if we can get as cheap a shipping option as possible (the damn prices seem to change almost daily!)

Ebooks aren't impacted by paper printing costs obviously so they'll be staying at the same price!
150
The Black Archive @blackarchive.co.uk · 11/09/2026
Sorry about that but we've kept the price as low as possible for years, and adding a couple of pound on to a book is only an extra pound a month, so I hope you'll keep supporting the range (though if you can't afford to, we obviously totally understand!) Next up - Frontios and Tomb of the Cybermen!
1172
The Black Archive @blackarchive.co.uk · 11/09/2026
The price of Archives has only gone up once in 10+ years since 2016 and printing costs have gone up many times since then, to the extent it now costs me money to sell copies of some of the longer Archives! As a result, we're scrapping the 5.99 sale price on the website from next week.

Oddly, in spite of having considerably fewer employees than Sony (we have one - me; Sony have more than one), if you bought an ebook from Obverse when we opened our doors 18 years ago, we guarantee you will still have a copy today (just drop me a line with your order number if you can't find it!)
A hell site exchange between some rightly complaining that he turned on his PS3 after ten years on non-use and Sony had deleted all the games he paid for back in the day, and an idiot replying, apparently under the impression that was fine and - presumably - that purchases from Sony are on a temporary ownership basis.

The family of Justin Richards are very touched by what people said about him this week. For those who wish to donate in his memory, they suggest Read for Good, a charity that works to get children reading, just as Justin strived to do with his writing. readforgood.enthuse.com/JustinRichar...
Julian Richards writes:

“Thank you all so much for your kind words about Dad. If any of you would like to do something in his memory then please consider donating to Read for Good, a charity that does work to get children reading, just as Justin always strived to do with his writing.”

If I could also ask some kind souls with accounts on other social media sites to please share this link as well so it can be found by those not on Facebook with us, as this is the extent of my social media reach and I know there's been a lot of kind thoughts and words about Dad elsewhere as well.

Cracking @blackarchive.co.uk from Brigid Cherry on Web Planet, a fave of mine, but unloved by a lot of fandom. This explores its position as experimental TV, use of puppetry and feminist theatre as well as its roots in environmentalism and WW2. Also you learn all about Roslyn de Winter. Recommended!
