Hello all, Back In 2014 and 2016 I ran a couple of half marathons and I was planning to run a third in 2020, until the world got in the way and I was diagnosed with heart failure (before the COVID vaccine existed if you’re conspiracy minded) and needed a mechanical heart valve fitting.

Laika the street dog loved the strange smelling men Who locked her away in a warm metal pen She'd fetch them a ball for a treat of sweet meat She'd had it much worse in her days on the street They'd spin her in a drum 'til she'd gag and she'd retch And cram her into a capsule with no room to stretch

Back on me novella, as always happens the decision to reshape a bit of p100 to set up the next bit has me looking at p95 where I tweak some dialogue that makes me realise there's a bit on p50 with a similar word choice that leads me to see there's about 5 pages there that could do with a polish...

I imagine jockey/Cabbie Tony will be arguing he was stitched up in the edit in this week's 70 Up. I have to say I liked the way his comments on migration were followed by a very different take.

Watching a 2002 TV Burp now is a lot like being on holiday abroad and trying to make sense of one of those very long variety quiz shows in Spanish that the audience finds hilarious.

This is not a drill, the deeply odd identical man boys who sing duets as "I" making you worry they don't clearly differentiate which of them is which when they pronounce their love to someone in song have now lost David Tennant. Less later as we learn it.

Bit odd when an Australian show does an Acknowledgement of Country caption before every episode of series 1 and then just doesn't on series 2. I'm going to assume it's something to do with the international distributors but dropping it comes over as weird.

Drivers: if you ever given a cheery honk of your horn in recognition or encouragement to someone you know running on the pavement beside a busy road, know that a) it's always indistinguishable from a threat or warning, b) it's often really alarming for runners when you're coming up from behind them,

29 years ago we were refitting a museum, decanting all the exhibits so the building could be redeveloped. It was quite an undertaking, long days, hard physical labour, painstaking care. In the middle of that first day someone had to find the never flown Union Flag so it could be raised to half mast.

Am watching another Crown Court. A 26 year old Wendy Padbury is playing a 14 year old. A) tellies were smaller in the mid 70s, B) we accepted it was theatrical, C) we didn't put actual kids in courtroom dramas about alleged abduction then (and not just because telly was smaller and more theatrical).

Another iteration of a synopsis distilled from the long version of something I already have in my head. A necessary but painful process of evolution but this is the most involved back and forth I've ever had before doing any of the bit I always consider the "proper work". I've probably been spoilt.

We, and more particularly my spouse, have been popping in and helping a neighbour given a terminal diagnosis a few months back. Their family was a long way away but local friends rallied and gave comfort and support, rehomed their dog and dealt with the madness of emergency NHS phone lines. etc.

Watching a Crown Court written by David Fisher, starring William Gaunt, Ian Marter, Richard Wilson and Christopher Benjamin to mention a few class acts. Gaunt's been given very yellow make up that doesn't trouble his neck. Makes him look gaunt & jaundiced. Next episode Fisher may get to his ladies.

James Bond wakes up in Purgatory, a bad CGI version of one of the previous dead Ms tell him he is to be given another chance, and a new face. The M morphs into another dead M, a melty faced Moneypenny leads Bond into swirling clouds, a big pop ballad comes on and ethereal ladies start dancing about.
