Jeg er medstiller på et borgerforslag, der rummer den vilde tanke, at politikerne tager deres egen lovgivning alvorligt. Det har nået mere end 35.000 underskrifter på 2 dage. Der er brug for flere. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Skriv under her: www.borgerforslag.dk/se-og-stoet-...

“There is no joy more intense than that of coming upon a fact that cannot be understood in terms of currently accepted ideas." Astronomer Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin, who decoded spectral lines to deduce the elemental composition of stars, was born #OTD in 1900. 🧪 🔭 ⚛️ 👩‍🔬 Image: Harvard Observatory
A black and white photo of Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin. She is sitting at her desk and looking up at the camera, which is in front of her and to her left. Payne-Gaposchkin is wearing a baggy, ribbed sweater and has a wristwatch on her right arm. A pair of glasses rests on the desk in front of her, next to open books and papers which are just visible at the bottom of the photogaph. Filing cabinets, drawers, and another desk are visible in the background. She has short, dark hair which is no longer than chin-length, pulled out of her face behind her left ear.

Trump/Musk is cutting NASA budget to a degree that has never been seen. The science section is facing a cut of 50 percent! This section is also responsible for monitoring Earth and thereby global warming.. 19 active projects are cancelled and billions of taxpayer dollars are thereby wasted

A new #ScienceReview provides a preview of what the Arctic region may look like in a warmer world. scim.ag/41rrYuF
Impacts of global warming on (A) marine ecosystem functioning and fisheries, (B) large marine mammals, (C) local transportation, and (D) infrastructure. Colors indicate risk level as a function of global warming: white, undetectable; yellow, moderate; red, high; purple, very high. Black bar indicates 2.7°C. Confidence in assessment of risk transitions by warming levels is indicated by the number of dots shown, from three (high) to one (low). No dots indicate confidence could not be assessed or a risk transition threshold was not met.

Zebra finches produce intralaryngeal laminar flow whistles during panting New from Coen Elemans' group 🐦 ZBs emit high pitch "heat call": 🐦 a w histle produced by *larynx* (not syrinx) 🐦 **But** too quiet for them to hear! www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1... #prattle 💬 #bioacoustics
Figure 1 from paper. Zebra finch heat calls are extremely soft and high-frequency sounds. (A) Representative oscillogram, 59
spectrogram, and a highlighted example (dashed box) of heat calls in vivo. (B) Superimposed frequency traces of all
isolated calls (gray) and 90% mean (color) from four zebra finches (zf1-4). (C) Mean dominant frequency, (D) duration
and (E) source level (mean root-mean-square) of heat calls. Song source level of 50-80 dB is 35 - 50 dB louder

This tigress has reclaimed the ancient fort within Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve and made it her home. Protection, prey, peace, and prosperity have been key factors in the tiger recovery within India, according to a new Science study. Learn more in this week's issue: scim.ag/42yn5Ra
Cultural reverence toward tigers (Panthera tigris) has fostered tolerance and permitted coexistence with humans in India. Ecological restoration, socioeconomic policies, and political stability have facilitated the recovery of tigers within their historical range, despite high human densities. This tigress has reclaimed the ancient fort within Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve and made it her home.
